You can overlook that one because Standard Trust Bank founded by Elumelu bought over UBA, which was in dire need of funds and trying to stay afloat, after Keem Belo-Osagie and his team had found it difficult to make UBA, profitable.

Tony Elumelu and his team decided to retain the name UBA at that time, because it was more popular. But that attempt to claim Union Bank as an Igbo bank, is still making me shiver. Chai!!

Pls don't ever include Union Bank in the list of Igbo-owned banks. Haba!! Is it because the MD is an Igbo man? When Ebong an Efik man was MD, would it have been right to classify it as an Efik bank? Union bank was not set up by the Igbo. In fact, the bank is older than independent Nigeria, sef. They celebrated 100 years recently. So why on earth are you classifying it as an Igbo bank, biko??
