Getting a First Class in Western Universities is ABSOLUTELY EASY for anyone who has gone through the rigor of Nigerian schools. Their system of education there is so relaxed that, with one's eyes closed, one can get a first class a thousand times over. By the way, what is the big deal with first class from some university in the UK? A first class from a Nigerian university makes more sense to me, so kudos to those who have, with all the rigor, stress of Nigerian universities were able to make first class here back home. If you doubt me, pray for a scholarship and get into any university out there and you would see that schooling in Nigeria no bi beans! After all, Billy my pink and green pet rabbit got a first class in Medicine from some "unknown" university in the UK some years ago; so what's the big deal, huh? |

TRAILBLAIZER:I cannot help you much. I am a philosopher who believes that not all lectures are important, you earn your salvation through your efforts not by grace. Heed my advice and concentrate as BCH would punish you if you lose focus. I have diversified into National security and Technology Management with interests in Biosecurity and Biological and toxin weapons. Cheers and congrats!!! |

TRAILBLAIZER:Congrats on your admission into the higher institution. Since you are determined to acheive first class at all cost. It's advisable you 1. Focus on your target 2. Be consistent on what you need. 3. Persevere to get it at all cost. And eventually you would get it. Not minding make sure you learn other skills that would help increase your knowledge and give you better qualifications on getting better jobs. I LIKE YOUR BOLDNESS, change the world!! |

madridsta007:I'm disappointed in your thinking abilities cuz all Madrid fans I know are smarter than this how do you know I'm not a first class graduate? let me guess, because I haven't created a thread on how to make first class with the number one point being "god is not necessary"? people that think like you do would believe Bill Gates is not as rich as Oyedepo cuz Oyedepo has multiple private jets while Bill flies economy for the sake of argument, let's say I'm a stark illiterate who has never attended school, how does it in anyway validate OP's assertion? are you gonna ignore the examples of atheists/deists/pantheists (nontheists) that made first class? Let me use the football analogy to show how illogical your point is OP (who's one of the best footballers in the world): Anyone who wants to make it in football must be at least 6feet tall Deicide: That's crap, being 6ft tall isn't necessary to be one of the best Madridsta007: Deicide, you're not one of the best in the world, why should we listen to you? HopefulLandlord: He's right though, Messi is less than 6ft tall and he's arguably the best player in the world and definitely top two Madridsta007: HopefulLandlord, become one of the best in the world and we'll talk please, always think clearly and don't be afraid to think cuz no one has been persecuted based on what the person thought in his head |

People's eyes have opened. Be desperate to succeed with any class you eventually have. The real life success is different from academic success. Let me give you a practical example. For those who knows UI. Skye Bank Office Complex Building is being renovated in millions! The renovation is financed by an alumni who had 3rd Class in Economics 1995 set. One of his mate, a lecturer and Dr in the department told Economic students in class. All thought that he will never succeed but now. It is good to have first class but it doesn't determine |

hopefulLandlord:I’m disappointed that you do not realise that the best teacher is “experience”— one which the original poster has and you clearly don’t. I suspect, though, that you realise— but arrogance on your part is too compelling! I mentioned an analogy earlier, if you missed it: it is pointless listening to an opinion of a herdsman on medicine over the opinion of a neurosurgeon. Of course if you had made a first class, you would have highlighted it and mentioned that the God-factor did not come into play. You didn't so it is safe to conclude that you did not make a first class -which is fine too. Of course your opinion is noted (hey, opinions are as free as the air) but how you want us to ignore the advice of a first class graduate for one who isn't a first class graduate is beyond me. And you are still ceaseless in your posturings. Your arrogance is remarkable! |

madridsta007:Any one who has gone through a Nigerian University knows why the OP included the God factor-- Its a cliché. Our universities are a hotbed of religious activity. You are literally brainwashed into thinking God is responsible for every A that you make and that you are responsible for every F. So it is understandable that the poster said what he said. If you were to take a survey, you will discover that Atheists, Muslims, Christians, JWs, etc all make make first class at the same rate relative to their respective populations. All you need to get a First Class are will, an ability to Jack" and memorize large volumes (no mean feat I tell you) |

Your apparent lack of understanding coupled with your inability to question dogma has now moved me from disappointment to sadness especially as I'm a Madrid fan madridsta007:You're committing several assumptions here, You don't know if I'm a first class graduate or not but you assumed I'm not and made several conclusions based on that assumption; this is not how intelligent discourse goes I mentioned an analogy earlier, if you missed it: it is pointless listening to an opinion of a herdsman on medicine over the opinion of a neurosurgeon. Can I take the opinion of a herdsman over that of a surgeon on Medicine? it is definitely within the realm of possibilities for me to do that that someone is a surgeon doesn't mean he's not prone to spilling illogical and sometimes plain wrong words on Medicine and that someone is a herdsman doesn't mean whatever he would say about medicine should be assumed to be wrong just because a particular neurosurgeon disagrees with him, this is why science uses peer review I wonder why my analogy about football keeps flying over your head since you're a Madrid fan, you really need to read it again and understand that Of course if you had made a first class, you would have highlighted it and mentioned that the God-factor did not come into play. You didn't so it is safe to conclude that you did not make a first class -which is fine too.My being a first class graduate or not has NO bearing in this discussion, which makes me disappointed the more why you're so fixated on that and assuming I'm not then running away with that assumption If someone tells me all houses in the world are painted green, all I need do to defeat that assertion is to point out a house (or houses) that's not green and the asserter would admit his assertion was wrong! that's how logic works what you are doing instead is running in circles by turning to me and "asking if my own house is painted green or not" which has no bearing with the assertion in the same vein if someone says belief in god is necessary to making first class, all I need do to defeat that assertion is to cite examples of "godless first class graduates", whether I'm a first class graduate or a stark illiterate is absolutely inconsequential Of course your opinion is noted (hey, opinions are as free as the air) but how you want us to ignore the advice of a first class graduate for one who isn't a first class graduate is beyond me. And you are still ceaseless in your posturings. Your arrogance is remarkable! You're funny OP is an opinion, Mine isn't an opinion rather its a fact! Facts are true no matter who its coming from while opinion can be false no matter how authoritative the giver appears facts can be independently verified, verifying if I'm right or not is very easy and you can do that on your own too by asking yourself this question"are there godless first class graduates?" if there are then OP's assertion is wrong, if there aren't then he's right |

You couldn't have said it more. Applied some of these principles in my final year and had a GPA of 4.75. Sincerely, academic success requires less of hard work and more of smartwork and network. You just have to know and understand yourself and everything flows smoothly. OP, you forgot to add attendance in class. I attended more than 95% of classes in my final year. It wasn't easy for me cos I was a hustler on campus but it latter paid at the long run cos the attendance some lecturers took were substituted for mark. Also, I didn't read much for tests and exams cos I understood everything they taught in class clearly. Your last point cannot be overemphasized. The best way to learn is to learn as if you were going to teach someone else. Sometimes, I have a mental picture of students and I try to communicate what have learnt or read to then. It helped me in the exam hall cos I always remembered everything I said while teaching my invisible students |
