Maritime Surveillance, Control and Communications System for Cameroon The project MSCCS-C (Maritime Surveillance, Control and Communications System for Cameroon) is an ambitious project with the goal of providing Cameroon with an advanced maritime surveillance and coast control system. The implementation of this project allows Cameroon to control the maritime traffic in its Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ). MSCCS provides support against piracy and other illegal maritime practices, effective frontier surveillance and port access control. It has been designed based on IMO (International Maritime Organization) and IALA (International Association of Lighthouse Authorities) recommendations. The operations are executed from two control centres, primary and secondary, with five more centres for auxiliary operations. All the sites are connected by optical fiber and microwave communications. The energy supply is guaranteed by an innovative system based on photovoltaic plants, complemented with generating units and, in some cases, commercial electric supply. The system’s core is the product Maritime Surveillance and Control System (MSCS) developed by Elecnor Deimos. It uses radar sensors, AIS, radiogoniometers, opto-electronic sensors and meteorological sensors. The system employs an advanced multi-sensor fusion technique that provides the operator with a real time representation of the operation field, offering precise information about the current situation."

Nigerdeltaboi:Are you kidding? This is Nigerian news agencies we are talking about. It will be like: "Nigeria soldiers attacked slave house in Libya". These people don't know the differences between fighter jets and helicopters or AFSF and SBS and QRF and to make it worse they don't bother researching. |

Ibrahimanees: ![]() At least here we still have specialist defence media, though the mainstream media still get it wrong: when the Zimbabwean "polite coup" happened, they called APCs tanks, and rushed to change it when they were called out. Which is why I applaud African Defence Review and their forthcoming Project Oya - a digital toolset aimed at equipping journalists & humanitarian workers with useful and easily-embeddable information on conflict, defence systems and broader conflict mapping. No African journalist should ever again call a propeller basic trainer, a fighter jet !

| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 9:36pm On Nov 29, 2017 |
tdayof:Depends on Nigerian Army doctrine and what they want, surely? After all, they bought REVA APCs and didn't avail themselves of all these other variants:
|
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by tdayof(m): 9:45pm On Nov 29, 2017 |
Frumentum:Not really different variants like that. I am talking about arming proforce ARA with multiple configurations of turrets and sensors. Enough firepower to make BHT run just by sighting it. Heard those guys hate the sound of those shilka. |

Frumentum:We must poach some guys from Reva company. The Reva is pretty |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 10:05pm On Nov 29, 2017 |
tdayof:I'm confused. What's lacking in the REVA variants which the Turkish APCs have? FLIR - check; RWS - check; Ambulance - NA bought those. I included every variant of the Turkish vehicle that you wished for, which the NA could've acquired when transacting with ICP. Hell, I left out 2 others!

| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by tdayof(m): 10:19pm On Nov 29, 2017 |
Frumentum:Sorry, thought you were talking about variants such as ambulance, those for crossing bridges etc. Let leave that. What I'm trying to say is that we operate too much standard APC. We need something packing sensors and automatic fire powers. We already operate enough APC/MRAP where we make use of gunners. APC/MRAPS with sensors would have done better in the north east so I doubt it's about NA doctrine. |

tdayof:Re-look, slowly, Chkil's original post, your post, my post. To re-iterate: the Nigerian Army could have itself of all those variants you admired on the Turkish vehicle when they bought REVA APCs, which come in even more variants. NA doctrine or their needs at the time militated against that. In simple terms, they are not going to forgo the opportunity to acquire those capabilities if they need them when transacting with an established supplier, for an untested platform that they're still evaluating. They're far more professional for that. "Ambulance and crossing bridges"? Where do you see that? A wheeled APC with bridge-laying equipment? Now that's an engineering feat I'd love to see. |
