The Nigerian customs has announced the discovery of a new method of smuggling used by criminals to bring in foreign made rice into the country.

The Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamafara command of the Nigerian customs, in a statement on Wednesday, revealed that unscrupulous elements now conceal the smuggled rice in local sacks in order to deceive customs officials and gain easy entry into the country.

"The command has discovered another way of smuggling Foreign Rice into the Country using Local sacks to conceal it. The Comptroller has made it clear that Nigeria Customs would not allow any form of smuggling into the Country and appealed to the people to avert smuggling activities."

The level of ignorance among Nigerians is indeed the greatest impediment against our development. The government did not stop people from importing Rice legitimately through the ports. The government only stopped Smugglers from bringing in Rice through the boarders.

The ignorance is mind blowing. This same set of peeps will be shouting no jobs, high forex, govt not performing, etc.

But when govt tries to block loopholes in its earning/reduce forex flight and shore up local production, they would be all over the place showing their ignorance to the world.

May thunder strike all of those custom officials who by seizing people's commodities had rendered the owners miserable while they share and enjoy someone's sweat with their northern brothers.

We can not satisfy in this country In as mush as we can not appreciate what we have at hand. GOD BLESS NIGERIA.

Legitimately with huge registration fee. Thank God for those smugglers cos I wonder how much a bag rice would be looking at the dollar-naira conversion rate.
