So I'm now on nairaland. I am just wondering why it happens to be so popular with such an amount if people online. Please help me understand why it is so popular!

Nairaland is a great platform that has helped many people including myself in many ways.

It has been around for many years and is really a wonderful community to be in.

My first web design work was gotten from nairaland. The work paid me 50k, and since then, there is no going back.

Most of my traffic I I blog usually comes from nairaland, just recently does Quora took over it.

I really loved nairaland for many things.

Good moderators

Excellent and timely information

A niche focused community

A fast and responsive website

Good navigation system

And a few others.

But i still believe nairaland needs some changes done.

We need to see more mind blowing features in this platform.

In al, Nairaland is a good place to be.

Informative

cuz it's nigeria-centric. That's its usp (unique selling point).
You dont feel so on other forums. More like an outsider there-here , it's less outsiderly.

It's also slow to grow,slow to adapt , slow to change - just like the physical nigeria.
I know that smells negative , but for we born and bred nigerians it's like d welcoming aroma of
goat dung to a village dweller. It's a welcome sign that he's home!!

yet to hit 2m subscribers after all this years!!! Yet its still famous!! . my o my - what an irony-but then
only in nigeria can such defiance of web laws occur and still u be a raging success!! Only in ngeria.

So nairaland is popular cuz it's nigerian.

Seun once said its the topics. I doubt it tho cos there was one fier ce competitor i know based in the US I think with more engaging topics, NVS. Probably dead now, not sure.

So possibly its the nigerian-centri c factor.
