Maybe now it will be considered an intelligent observation. When I said it some thought I was uncaring of the plight of the people in Libya. We always talk of cosmetic and face saving activities, just to show we care. Tackle the root causes of issues. And there would be no need for people to be crossing. There was a time in this Nigeria that Ghanians saw Nigeria as America.

Shortly after FESTAC "77. All the Charlies that came stayed back and more came to join them. But as their economy improved... They had no need to come here. Those that stayed back in Nigeria did so as a matter of choice not because things were hard back in Accra. But again, what do I know sef? Shebi I am just a comedian?

The trip to Europe by road costs at least $1,500. These people are able to raise that amount.

I know civil servants whose annually wage is 500k. That is even less that $1,500. These people are not poor!

And lack of contentment. Somebody asked you to bring #200k and I know they pay more than this to the agent that help them to cross, why can't they used the money to start something on their own here in Nigeria.

Though Nigeria have alot of challenges but it still better here than risking your life in only god knows where you are going.

I started my business with just #100k around May this year and I know what I have now, so with the money they payed the agent, that's enough to start something here in Nigeria.

If only you know the number of lands and other properties they have to sell before they embark on that journey. They are poor, desperately poor.

good atmosphere, good living conditions, hope for the future, good health facilities, name it; they all constitute to what made them travel and not because they can't stay back and hustle....what's the assurance that your government won't steal from them and still frustrate all their efforts. I disagree on that. These people are poor in my opinion. Some of these people sell valuable properties, to some, that amount was their life savings or amount accumulated over the years, some borrow, some stole. They all believe they were investing by leaving Nigeria to destinations where they’d be able to have better pay, job securities which Nigeria couldn’t give them.
If you have $2000 in Nigeria, can you confidently say you’d invest it in anything and make sustainable profit and income from it? Mind you not everyone is business inclined. I’ve seen lots of threads here on NL about people asking for advice on what budinesscto do with amounts like N500k, N2m. Do you know how long and what it took to save those amounts? Be aware that around the corners are another group of individuals waiting to either rob you, swindle and dupe you or collect those money from you through various evil ways.

Nigeria is a dog eat dog country where no one cares. You are on your own if your House burnt down, business razed by fire, robbed. There is no welfare package.

People will always leave an environment they find frustrating.

Even if its the darkness in Nigeria alone, is it not enough to make people run away?

What is good about NIGERIA?
