Stop deluding yourself. You know it isn't just about the "rusted roofs"

The place is a huge slum being hidden and labelled "Biggest city in Africa" grin grin grin grin grin grin
We knew it's not a city but an eyesore, lack of toilets and sanitation facilities etc, but kept quiet not to ruffle any feathers

Ibadan is the same exact Nigerian version of Kibera. Even Kibera is better planned and less a slum than Ibadan.

Yet, it is the place that insults other parts of the country as villages. So people exposed it for what it truly is.
Yet,ABC bus will not fail daily to drop Ibo people running from hardship in Ibadan. Shameless people.

I write this thread with contrition as i am guilty of what i seek to dissuade others from doing. Following a spate of scathing attacks on the yoruba Nation by igbo youths online, i think it is time to throw in the towel and beat a tactical retreat. The needless d!ck measuring which saw youths of both tribes posting pictures of infrastructural development wherein the igbos were admirably able to put up a good show has brought to the fore the futility in arguing with the igbos over anything politics or development. Moreso, i find arguments with igbos on the vexed issue of Lagos as an anathema which should henceforth be desisted from. I propose a mechanism whereby the Yorubas would adopt the Modus Operandi of the Hausa - Fulani which has seen them refrain from the vitriolic and hate filled rhetoric that characterizes e-wars which we Southerners so much relish. Yoruba Youths should endeavor to unite and forge common goals which would see to the protection of Yoruba Interests in Nigeria. If we switch off internet wars with the igbos over Lagos, we would leave our igbo enemies confused as to our plans thereby ensuring victory in the long run.

It is apposite that i state at this juncture that the Igbos can never be defeated in Internet war because they are propelled by a deep sense of grief and hate for the Yoruba over their loss of the civil war and their displacement from the table where decisions are being taken in Nigeria. For the igbos, the e-wars are real and they take it more seriously. We yorubas take the whole thing with levity. We are naive of the deep seated animosity with which we are being faced with by our igbo neighbours hence, we are always bound to lose any internet war. It is therefore time to completely black out of internet wars with any igbo person on the politics of Nigeria. We are not built with the hate of the average igbo and we should always have that at the back of our minds when we waste valuable man hours arguing with an average igbo who has a force propelling him/her. My proposition inevitably means we would/should concede defeat when we sense that the igbos want to instigate an e-war in every thread. We must also agree that they are the richest tribe in Nigeria. We must in essence avoid them like a plague online while we strategise and internalise whatever our true feelings are about whatever lies being peddled by the Igbo. All omoluabi are urged to please adopt this recommendation as we cannot to waste our time engaging with a people that cannot be placated. Glorious yoruba youths must turn to hardwork and perseverance to protect further the interest of the race in Nigeria. Victories in needless internet wars count for nothing in real life. We as yorubas know who we are and what we are capable of as a people in Nigeria. We must not give in to the impulses of insecurity which demands that we win internet wars with the Igbos.

LET US ACCEPT THAT THE IGBOS HAVE WON THE WAR SO WE MAY HAVE PEACE ON OUR DIGITAL SPACE. ENOUGH OF THE BACK AND FORTH WITH THE IGBOS.

op I don't know when brown roof has suddenly become under civilization. does it mean the ibo started using new aluminium cover in 18th century? it means the ibo never use brown roof in their states. sometimes silent is golden how could any man argue this? if u go to UK u will see old corrugated slate in most municipals but that doesn't in anyway denigrate them. as a civilized town u got to start somewhere . it means all ibo came to existence tru big bang hypothesis in modern age. they are the most civilised, well traveled, most educated.all in all ibo is the best.let's give it to them since they know more than us.

Does it mean your civilization doesn't grow?

Yorubas can't compete outside Yorubaland. Igbos are not only competing, but electing members into their House of Assembly. They started as Special Assistants, then Commissioners, now Honorable Members, tomorrow Deputy Governor and next Governor.

While Igbos are strategically positioned to produce Governors in SW, in 100 years, SW can't replicate that in the SE. Never! This is real sophistication, not those found on pages of free social media.

They are afraid of traveling because they can't compete outside Yoruba. It is even difficult for them to hold down Lagos to themselves talk more of outside Yoruba. They only Yorubas I know in the SE are tailors in Anambra and beggars in Azikiwe Road, Aba, opposite the Yoruba mosque and Christ the King Catholic Church. There are more of these beggars than Al majiris. The irony is that they hate Christians but begs in front of the biggest church in Aba. In spite of defacing that area, the love of Christ couldn't allow the church authorities to chase them away.

The Hausas are trying more than the SW, with legitimate businesses. Dealing in Agro products and large shops selling textile materials, some are into Keke taxi business in Awka, Anambra.

Op, if you are talking about civilization, the Hausa/Fulanis boasts of the highest pre-colonial civilization. Yoruba pre-colonial civilization are learning where theirs are. Evidences of those civilization are still among us to see.

If our civilization doesn't grow we wouldn't have more than 60% of the nation's economy while you scrounge at the bottom of the pile.
Going by your biotic logic if your region is so developed why can't you stay there? Why do you run in millions to the less developed region? I'm sure you know this will only make sense to people like you who naturally view everything from the upside down.

Let's talk about precolonial civilization if you want to go there. You can find the evidence in the quality of Yoruba works of art which is rivalled only by the Benins in the whole of Africa. Our natural rivals are by far not ibos.

grin I'm happy you have accepted you guys have brown roofs, at least we are one step ahead. As it is said, identifying a problem is a step to solving it.

Sequel to your claims, we in the East see Brown roofs as backwardness, even in my village what you would see is aluminium zinc that have been in existence for ages.

Accept it, Yorubas are allergic to innovations cum civilization, they wish to remain like they are thinking we are still in the prehistoric times...

My Yoruba brethrens, I got nothing but love for you guys, the world is revolving very fast!

You control 60% of Nigerian economy? Meaning you control Nigerian oil resources, because Nigerian economy is an oil based one.
How many foreign reserve does SW contribute to our economy?
Sharing poverty through high tax rate which results to high IGR is never a measure of high economic activity.
How many product has SW successfully exported outside this country?
We all know the highest employer of labour in this country is the North. With an adequate tax system in place, though operating in the informal sector, North can produce higher IGR than SW.
If you are looking at Lagos when you said that, sorry, Lagos is not a Yoruba land. There are Igbo, Hausa and ND companies all littered in Lagos.

Yoruba art doesn't even come close to Bini art. So Bini are not rivaling the Yorubas. If you are talking about Ife art, we still have our own Igbo Ukwu Art which is the only art work rivaling Bini art.

Carbon dating shows Igbo Ukwu art to originate around the 9th century, making it the earliest known work of art in the entire country. Before Yorubas know what a bronze is, the Igbos had only casted successfully their first bronze art about 300 years ago.

With or without art, the Hausas boast of the best civilisation in pre-colonial era.

Nobody is demonizing tax, what we are saying is that greed is what led to the high tax in SW not as a result of the capability of their economy. Osun State federal allocation is around 800 million because they mortaged their future with high debts, so as a survival measure, they imposed high taxes on the poor citizens. That is why Osun generates higher IGR than Anambra that can feed that state for years without blinking eyelids.

Nri Kinddom is older than the entire SW.

Story, Yoruba art work can't measure with Igbo Ukwu art. When Ife successfully casted their first bronze, Igbo Ukwu had successfully casted theirs 300 yrs ago.

No Yoruba culture can attract the international attention Arochukwu long juju attracted.

This is the problem when you try to argue with people who doesn't know too much. Oil constitute the major foreign exchange earner for the country but that is not where the economy ends.

If you want to deceive yourself by saying Lagos is not Yorubaland you are free to do so, but please keep me informed when the economic indices are out and Lagos is excluded from the South West.

I never tried to compare Yoruba art with Benin art because both are top notch classics, I was merely pointing out that Your ancestors were busy hunting each other for food with cutlasses when Yoruba and Benin were producing these masterpieces.

You had no worthwhile history or cities or civil organization before the white man, how then are we equal in development?
The first primer for ibo language was written by a Yoruba man, likewise your bible.
A beg, go siddon for potopoto o jare.

You said Yorubas control 60% of our economy. Yorubas are arrogant. They same way they arrogantly arrogated to themself 70% control of the Nigerian ICT sector.

Agriculture contributes 31% to our economy while oil and petroleum products 28%, this two alone amounts to 59%. So how Yoruba take the control 60% of our economy.
www.focusafrica.gov.in/sector_profile_nigeria.html
Oil generates 95% of our foreign exchange while diasporan remitance and exports of non-oil products contributes the other 5% which SE heavily control. 65% of government revenue are generated from oil. So tell me, how does SW control our economy. Arrogance is not good.

Lagos is in South West, we don't argue that but not Yoruba land.

Stop speaking without facts. When Yorubas successfully casted their first bronze art, Igbo Ukwu had already done that over 400 years ago (not 300 yrs like I said before). Igbo Ukwu art is older than Ife bronze art by 400 years. So when Igbo Ukwu first casted their bronze art, the great grand father of Oduduwa was still playing in the mud naked.

When Igbo Ukwu bronze art was 300 years, Ife people were still casting with mud, 100-200 years later they successfully casted their bronze art. That was between 13th and 14th centuries.

Igbo Ukwu art is the oldest known art work done with bronze. Igbos are the first people to cast with bronze in the entire West Africa.

While Igbo Ukwu art was developed by Igbos, Ife art was copied from Bini art.

Sensible people will still prefer potopoto to living on a floating slum. Maybe you haven't heard of Makoko before. You can never get a Makoko in any part of the East. Never.

It shows backwardness, laziness, illiteracy.
In this Morden time ,there is massive production of modern zinc or roof top that will aid and beautify ur environment.
It's not because the inhabitants of such deprolable house don't like new things it's is because brown roof aid them through out there operation of harvesting human skull.
In south east such roof have been remove since replace with good and admirable roof tops.

I love the hospitality nature of my igbo people.
let me give u reasons y u don't have such in Igbo land

* b4 the war, your father's had houses which could have turned to brown roof today n serve as a way of remembering your forefathers but they were cut short by gowons bullet n everything destroyed,so your land locked region can't have it cos of that.

*Ibadan is d largest city in West Africa n for sure it's bigger than some states in your erosion laden republic so there's enough room for expansion unlike Igbo land that if u don't dismantle u can't build new ones.Thats y like 50 people Will be fight for half plot of land in Igbo land n brothers will b burying themselves in shallow grave cos of half plot...don't forget what Arthur Eze is doing to people because of land

*those children raised in those brown roofs are now multimillionaires but they will not dismantle it,they will rather go n built another one n bring their children there for the remembrance of their grandparents.so that's to tell u that it's a different scenario here unlike Igbo land.
Even if u get to the palace in Yoruba land,no matter how modern it is u will still find brown roof not cos they don't have d money to build new ones
