Chapter 15
Dan had deemed it wise to let Sophia to stew in her juice, instead of chasing her but not for long. He just had to taste her, even it, it was just later. He decided to give her a break, maybe all this things were causing her to have a mental breakdown.

Sophia did not understand Dan, when she meant he should leave, she didn't mean he should just leave everything he does or wasn't that what she had always wanted.
That her world comprised of herself and Chris and that she was forcing herself to go out with Dan. Anyway the secret was out, the world had already read meaning to their relationship.
Now he was withdrawing and for like three months she had not seen him, he had only visited Chris in school and at her parents' place when she was never around.
Worse still, Aunty Nike, the owner of their couture and the CEO, had just declared that some male musicians were looking forward to work with her for the collective Africa SOS video.
She was in charge of designing their outfits, the background, the clothes of the models who would feature in the video and then another group of little children who would be the backup.
Her head was running like a train, she had been up and doing, she had travelled twice to seven different countries, made hotel accommodations, booked flights because Cynthia, the couture's agent was overbooked.
Boma was also caught up, he had been to Clarence Peters studio a number of times and also trying to take measurements from around Africa.
She was seated, thinking deeply, when Aunty Nike came in to dash her hopes of rest. Dan Ani was coming to help, she almost hissed and said,"Abi he's coming to distract me."
But all she did was to smile and say she would welcome the help while wondering how she'd deal with hundreds of clothes. Why does Africa have too many male musicians?

Good afternoon sir." Sophia said as she adjusted her files on the table, she dared not look up, as her boss Aunty Nike was raving about her good her suit designs were.
She took in his tall height, laid back dressing and his hair...that hair that her son inherited. She shifted uncomfortably as she motioned him to sit on the sofa, that was how they wanted it here at Nikkin Coutures. Comfort and quality.
"Thank you so much, so I'll leave you with Sophia. She's absolutely the best." the woman said proudly and winked at her.
"So we meet again Miss Benjamin." he said as the woman closed the door leaving poor Sophia to her doom.
"Good afternoon Mr Ani." Sophia was shivering as awareness passed through her spines. She straightened her back and gave him a full eye contact.
"I heard your greeting, the first time. You still look as beautiful as ever don't you." he said, as he put his hands in his trouser pockets and sauntered like he owned the office.
He sat on the arm of the chair where she was and placed his palm on her lap.
"Dan." she squealed as the warm contact, got her shivering.
"Maka why?" his voice was dangerously low and he played with the hem of her skirt.
"Why what?" her brain had ceased functioning when she felt his hands inched towards her thighs.
"There is still one question on my mind, possibly everyone, who knows us tried in their best way to answer. Why did you keep my son from me?" this jolted her, and she tried to stand but he held back her shoulders in a firm grip.
"Please Dan. Look I'm sorry about it, but there was no way that time that I could contact you and I didn't want a scandal." she said as she struggled to even her breathing, her clothes were suddenly too tight and her body was flushed.
"I want you. Here. Now." he whispered, as he continued his onslaught on her. He tugged at her buttons as he tried to kiss her.
Sophia felt her stomach drop, as she tried to push him. Her legs were becoming weak. Her heart was beating erratically. She felt him nudge at her neck.
"Sophia just stop fighting me, stop fighting this, you want me." he said, as he cupped her bra through her shirt and bit her ear.
Sophia felt her brain sizzling, she moaned and pushed him forcefully.
"Dan stop this nonsense, for crying out loud anyone can walk into us. Please stop." she said, weakly as he held her. That got to him, and he stood, Sophia felt weak for a moment as she tried to stand up.
No one told her, that if she hadn't said that, probably Dan would have had her in the office and she would consent.
"I'm sorry, its just that I want you so bad, I don't mind taking you here." he said shrugging.
"Really? Dan why are you acting like a sex starved teen boy?" she said as they were interrupted by Aunty Nike, who came in to announce the arrival of other artists.

The next months were filled with a lot of work and Sophia had split dropping off Chris at school with Dan, who had been of utmost help. The models were annoying, stuck up early twenties girls who felt they had to press their phone and selfie every hour with any musician they caught.
Now they were complaining that the platform for their catwalk in the video wasn't aligned right. Cynthia came to tell her.
Sophia had left with strings of thread, silk materials sticking to her while she went to the makeshift studio.
"Hello ladies, I heard there was a problem." she entered the icy and white room. The girls were in groups tittering, she rolled her eyes as one girl pointed out her unnecessary decorations.
"Yes, we expected a live shot with Dugbsy boy and the platform is weak and lacklustre. You can't expect me to walk on this, I'll break my fall and I have a show next week in Paris." Amanda, the worst of the lot first spoke as she twirled her long brown weave on.
"Okay? Something is wrong with the platform?" she said, as she stepped gingerly on the platform. It felt normal, all these models dem get for body.
"Yes, duh why are you still staring at us? Get rid of it or do something."Pauline, the next in line to Queen Amanda was quick to say.
"There is nothing wrong with the platform, but I'll call Felix to check it." she sighed, things she did for business.
Felix adjusted and checked everything to their satisfaction, then they were all anticipating music, the girls complained that they expected a live performance.
"Are you hiding your baby daddy from us? We don't to have anything to do with him." Nadia, the Ghanian, there said spitefully.
"Excuse me, my private affairs aren't your business. If you have any problem why don't we get the director to pick from our various models in our catalog on our beck and call?" Sophia said, as the girls looked shock, so they thought that they were irreplaceable.
"As for catwalk, I still recollect my days in secondary school,when I took part in a competition, what's the name again? You guys still remember Miss Africa teen, and you remember who won." the girls gave a collective gasp, there was no way anyone could argue that Sophia wasn't the former Miss teen Africa with her model stature, but what they didn't understand was how she became a plus size.
Sophia further shocked them as she strutted and swayed her hips. The girls couldn't help but admire her, despite her body, she took the runway like she owned it.
They gave her a round of applause as she bowed.
"Sorry Sophia, we mistook you."Amanda said, as she hugged Sophia.
"I never knew you modeled."Aunty Nike said, as she came with Dan, who winked at her. The girls were giving her knowing looks. She almost wished the ground would swallow her.
"Tell me about it, you should have seen her. You should be a modelling coach."Dan teased her, and Sophia rolled her eyes.
"That isn't my dream. Anyway girls here is your live performance I have work to do. Excuse me." Sophia escaped before, they tormented her.

"Mummy, why are we here?" Chris asked as they entered the compound, Dan had forced her to see his mother and here she was. Well that was the only thing she could do beside opening her legs.
She removed her seat belt and gave Chris, a quick sit still look.
They were in the western part of Nigeria in Abeokuta.
She knew the place, because she had spent a month there with Lasgidi coutures. The area was for the cream and rich of the society. His mother was a widow and he had lost his dad during his second year in his music career.
She had entered the compound, with a duplex, and a beautiful garden.
An old woman, almost in her sixties wearing a pink lace dress and she tied a pink scarf. She was reading her Bible, on the balcony and she felt absorbed in it.
She looked a bit younger as they drew near, she looked up as Sophia greeted her.
"My dear, how are you? Dan told me you were coming." the woman called her, as she knelt to greet her.
"Ma?"Sophia was pleasantly surprised at her warm attitude.
"Come in, let me get you something, is this Chris?" she asked, as she stood to open the door.
"Yes ma," Sophia said as she followed the woman into the house.
The sitting room was beautiful and well furnished, pictures of the couple, their children and so on. The woman gave her a tour of the house, slipping stories and memories that made Sophia feel part of the house. She laughed at Dan's antics when he was little as they talked, while cooking. Chris was watching cartoon and didn't mind as long as he chewed something, which his granny had provided.
"Sophia, I'm so happy to meet you at last. My son has said so much about you, and I feel proud of you, I want you to see me as your mother, above all take care of Dan and Chris." she concluded as they finished cooking.
Sophia nodded happily, the woman was like a mother and she felt at peace here.
"then can I call you maami." she teased and they laughed

Chapter 16
Sophia helped Mrs Ani, to clean up the dinner plates, they had spent a week together, she had met his siblings Toye, Bernard, Paul and his sister Dupe. They all got along and although she hadn't seen him, she felt inside of her that he was coming.
Mrs Ani was showing Chris some photographs, while she washed the dishes and cleared the dining table, Paul had left but not before jokingly asking her hands in marriage and then Mrs Ani had to chase him around with her slippers, it was funny, a grown up man running like Chris while his elder mother chased him. It showed how lively, down to earth and playful they were.
"Sophia, I think you should come here someone has arrived." Sophia's heart beat increased a notch as she inhaled the familiar Dan scent. She decided to ignore the call, because the old lady had teased her sore concerning Dan, and this left her breathless.
"Mummy, don't mind her, let her be doing shakara there. When she's ready, she'll come out." she heard Dan say amidst Chris' crazed shouts of Daddy.
They had spent a few moments talking, while she cleaned every dirty thing she could find in order to escape.
But fate wouldn't have it, Dan came in saying he wanted to drink water. She was just excusing herself, when he gripped her arm and pulled her to himself.
"So how has it been?" he said, as he ruffled his small dreads and smiled.
"Lovely, your family takes care of me better than you do." she said, as she turned her head.
"You couldn't even greet me, not even a welcome kiss." he whispered, and tried to kiss her.
"Mba, no, no kissing abeg, don't you respect your mum." she said as she struggled.
"My mom, abeg, she knows me and what I'm capable of doing here, although a welcome kiss wouldn't hurt." he said, as he gave an innocent look.
"You are a bad boy, go and drink your water." she ignored him and sighed.
"I'm hungry." he said, as he eyed her.
"There is ikokore, Ijebu made and then jollof rice with beef. Serve yourself." she said as she tried to loosen his grip.
"What nonsense, come on, I'm the hubby here, serve me jare. And by the way, we have an outing at Olumo rock tomorrow at four, so get ready." he said as he left her arm.
"Hey Mr man, you've forgotten your water." she held him back, and left before him.

"Dan, where are we going to actually?"Sophia was exhausted, they had been climbing, and taking pictures for an hour although she enjoyed every bit of it and the scenery, she was already worn out. On the other hand Dan looked like he just started.
"We are almost there lazy girl, so what have you been doing?" he said, as she sat on the bare rock ignoring the tourist guide.
"Eating, caring for Chris, working at an office and getting fat doing that." she said, sarcastically. She would kill Dan, he made her do this horror climb with low wedge sandals. She had ignored the little voice that warned her to take her sneakers along.
Now her leg muscles were cramped, Dan rolled his eyes at her and she couldn't help but giggle as she stood.
"You look like a pretty girl, when you do that." she said, as they continued walking with the crowd.
At the middle level of the rocks, there was a small restaurant and Sophia felt happy, when they stopped, but to her surprise Dan took her farther away.
"I thought we were supposed to meet someone." she asked, as they moved to an enclosure in the caves.
"Yes, now keep shut, will you, you ask too much questions."Dan hushed her, as he led her to a grassy area. A huge blanket with an overhead canopy, a big wicker basket and a waiter waiting on them.
Sophia didn't understand why all the fuss was made around her, they asked them what they wanted and left.
"Dan I can't see anyone here."Sophia asked, panicked that they had lost their appointment. Dan opened the basket and was arranging a picnic. Maybe they hadn't arrived, but it wasn't until she saw the flowers and her favorite food that it dawned on her that Dan had tricked her into coming here for a date.
"Dan, don't you dare lie to me, this is a date right?" she asked.
"Nah, they are coming abi? Have you seen them."Dan said playing along. Sophia sighed as he continued arranging the things in a well placed and orderly manner.
Sophia decided to change the subject,"So where did you learn this vagant table arrangement?" Dan sat back and admired his work, he then smiled at her."Well I was once did menial jobs, so along the line, I learnt this." he shrugged, like it was no big deal, but to Sophia it was, it was her best picnic arrangement on pinterest.
"Well lets eat then." he said, as they ate the delicious snacks and fruit, Dan fed Sophia despite her refusal, and she stole his chicken.
They sat together watching the beautiful sunset and sipping their drinks.

Chapter 17
They were still engrossed in the beautiful orange sunset, when Dan suggested that they pack up. Sophia enjoyed every moment, and the food was delicious, it had that little pepperish tang in it. She was thinking of buying more fruits before she left, as she helped him clean up.
Suddenly, he crouched down and shouted, Sophia ran to his side thinking something attacked him, infact she was searching the ground for a snake or an insect, when Dan held her left hand.
"Dan are you alright?" she said in alarm.
"No Sophia, there has been something on my mind that I have been dying to say, please grant me this as my last request." he said, as he held his side and winced.
Sophia felt her heart pump faster, she had to get a doctor or a health personnel, Dan looked like he was going to pass out from his pain, Dan can't die in her hands. But he held her firmly from moving.
"Okay Dan, wait let me get help first now." she said, as she tried to help him up.
"No hear me out." he insisted.
Sophia got pissed off and worried stubborn man, he was still in pain, and he was arguing just like her father, what did he have to say now.
"Okay." she said angrily still with worry etched on her face.
In a flash he was kneeling on one knee and he held a blue velvet box, Sophia felt like she should drop dead. She was shivering, how could he pull that stunt so quickly.
"Sophia Amaka Benjamin, for the first time in my life I've known what love truly is, I've been beaten, scorned, abused by others because of it, You have mollified me, ensured every brain cell in me thought about you. You and I have been through thorns and thistles, I saw that shining gem in you, that innocence and beauty drew me and got me hooked, that woman willing to fight and sacrifice for the one she loved,when you left six years back. I was miserable, I tried to get over you, but then and now I've come to realise that there is no woman like you. And I'll never leave your side. Would you make me happy and content by accepting me as your husband?" he said, giving her a mischievous but heartwarming smile.
"Shut up Dan, you almost gave me an heart attack there, yes I'll be your wife, wonder what took you so long?" she said as she grinned.
He slipped a small diamond band and Sophia looked at it, It was just gorgeous and perfect, she hated statement rings, they were too loud, this was just right.
"I love it and I love you Dan, I'm glad you finally asked although you still owe me my ice cream for that long climb." she said as they hugged and kissed.
"hmm, I'm beginning to feel jealous of the ice cream oh." he said as he twirled her, while the chilly breeze blew around them.
"Sophia I love you, and I love the fact that you are the mother of my son, I for once can never regret that, I'm proud of who Chris is growing to be and proud of your efforts, I'll never leave you till the end." he whispered, as they descended the rocks with the basket.
