No Consultant at the time she was admitted? Does she know the meaning of "Consultant"?
the casualty officer sees before a Medical House Officer, before a junior Registrar, before a senior registrar, before a Consultant.
A Consultant not being around is not a thing to say.

may God strengthen the family.
.
RIP to the dead.

May he RIP. Nigeria is a useless country. But it is we, the Nigerians collectively, that make it so. We can change the situation positively by getting involved in our politics and ensuring that we elect decent Nigerians (not tribalists and incompetents) to leadership positions.

I wan cry sef....naijacide claims 800,000 casualties per year...health, roads, corruption, etc...

People die at home, on way to hospital, on roads, in the desert, in the sea, in their own brains

Hmmmm

1.We were not told what disease the friend was suffering from....that needed a consultant, or how long it took said friend to get to the hospital from onset of illness.

2.Teaching hospitals in Nigeria are busy.

3.Healthcare funding in Nigeria is low because we are not willing to pay for it. Govt refuses to fund healthcare adequately, and people want 'free health care' which between them deprive hospitals of funding.

4.I know doctors in this country can be awful....but sometimes, people just bash medics without getting the full facts.
Just the way policemen are lowly paid, go to dangerous missions without safety kits, no life insurance, no good accommodations, govt has refused to take care of officers, and we expect them to perform wonders abi? I'm sure, probably, u are among those who scream end SARS. Maybe yes or no. But just saying. My point is, just as u have raised, govt has refused to do the right thing. As it is in hospital, so it is in security units. Shame on nigeria. Nigerians should channel their campaign against the govt and not mere doctors or mere policemen who are hungry.

1.If oil stays below $70 per barrel...PDP govt is still going to find it difficult to increase healthcare funding.

2.If Nigerians continue to insist on paying 70000 for a 500000 naira procedure....healthcare funding is still going to be poor.
see yourself very selfish I think you are a medical doctor always thinking of how to milk patients so you want people to be paying high exorbitant rate for procedure and the funny thing is most Nigerian doctor don't know anything except for some few

A country that has Atiku and Buhari to choose from in 2019 is doomed.
Nigeria is under nemesis.

The country is totally messed up. Nigeria is an underdeveloped jungle. Any human that says Nigeria is developing needs to check his brain and understand what development means.

How can a country be having same old problems since the day it was created as a country over 50years. How can people still be complaining about poor roads, epileptic power supply, poor Health care, infrastructure , etc over 50 phucking years. Same old problems. Same song Fela sang back then still applies to our current situation. I don't understand why the British thought we were better enough to get independence. That was the greatest mistake they made. They should never have given us independence that early. They should have waited to build all necessary infrastructure and just give us partial power to control. Some times I feel like Nigerians should never be allowed into any other country. Other countries should chase us outta their country and force us to fix ours. Very annoying. That's why the president and his fellow senseless and evil politicians will never get treated for any sickness here. They always have to fly out the country for treatment with tax payers money.

Do you belong to a political party and have saved money to contribute for running it?
Have you used your time, talents and experience to identify, support and campaign for any candidate?
Do you have relatives and friends who have done this?
If not, then why are you putting Nigeria under nemesishuh

Government needs to expand LUTH and motivate the staff. Most of the problem in Nigeria is because those at the top behave like ostrich.

Three of my neighbours died this year alone as a result of doctors' negligence and carelessness in FMC owerri. May their souls rest in peace

Until Nigerians shine their eye and demand that the cost of running the upper and lower house of parilament is reduced and the money pumped into the health system, people will still continue to die needlessly.
Your friend didnt die because there was no consultant. Teaching hospitals have specialty registrars who more or less man the hospitals except for certain surgical specialties that a consultant is needed. Any medical emergency can be managed by a senior registrar.
There were delays in the management of your friend, staring from even admission into A/E.
The heath care system in Nigeria needs billions of dollars to be revamped, and its not just about paying salaries to staff. There are times i feel we can never get there, but i know its possible with a good political will.
