LUTH is a death trap. If you are refer there, you can as well seek forgiveness cos your days are numbered. Bed-ridden patients were treated outside when I was still a student.

I am a living testimony to this. May 2014 I was rushed to LUTH from federal medical centre yaba ,only to be told there was no bed. They even showed us a bullet ridden man that was seriously bleeding to death lying in the car beside me , that infact I was third on the queue. They asked if we can pay 50k for a private ward and that the consultant won't be around till Tuesday and Thursdays...and this was Friday.
my people the rest na story. . .If you don't believe in God , then you need a psychiatrist.
If they refer you to LUTH and it is the only place they think you will get help, please please say your last PRAYERS.

2.Teaching hospitals in Nigeria are busy.

3.Healthcare funding in Nigeria is low because we are not willing to pay for it. Govt refuses to fund healthcare adequately, and people want 'free health care' which between them deprive hospitals of funding.

Just Ghana here, with ur insurance card you can walk to any governmental hospital to get drugs for free even though na ordinary headache. Pls let's call a spade a spade, Nigeria still has a long way to go. Stop all theses ur oyoyo talks.! And guess what it cost just 15ghc to get that card which is not up to #2000 here in Nigeria.

Just the way policemen are lowly paid, go to dangerous missions without safety kits, no life insurance, no good accommodations, govt has refused to take care of officers, and we expect them to perform wonders abi? I'm sure, probably, u are among those who scream end SARS. Maybe yes or no. But just saying. My point is, just as u have raised, govt has refused to do the right thing. As it is in hospital, so it is in security units. Shame on nigeria. Nigerians should channel their campaign against the govt and not mere doctors or mere policemen who are hungry.

Bed shortage is a worldwide phenomenon.

No hospital can cater for everyone at all times.

We need more hospitals and better funding.

Should Nigeria adopt the NHS standard of the UK we would be better for it though Nigerians would still complain.

Every worker should contribute a portion of his monthly salary even 2.5% to a trust which manages the government hospitals and then we'll see some improvement.

Otherwise it would continue to be Medicare to the highest bidder.

the casualty officer sees before a Medical House Officer, before a junior Registrar, before a senior registrar, before a Consultant.

So be cause you were not told what disease the patient was suffering from, does that mean he was not entitled to prompt emergency medical care? If such care had been given quickly, and the patient was stabilised, wouldn't the story have been different?

Nigerian doctors in public hospitals are some of the most inconsiderate, insensitive, unhelpful, undisciplined, non-diligent species, any one can come across.
