JoNach:What is a standard bastard? Are there non-standard ones, or non-aligned ones? Tell us, biko! But people pay for treatment in public hospitals, o! Before they open card for you, you must pay. Once they write prescription for you, you must pay to get the medication. And you must pay for tests, blood, bed space...in short, everything. Even the doctor's shakara and nonchalance must be paid for. Na who wan make disease kill am make im die? |

Princedapace:There's no way you aint a cop or related to one. You too dey defend them. Everybody cant be wrong about una..Truth is NPF is grossly under-performing and would still remain mediocres even if they were paid well. |

NnamdiN:how could u come up with such conclusion ? do u think performance is magical? Performance comes from good facilities.. I laugh at us in this country. I am not a policeman, I am not related to any.. But i av decided to reason not like most of u out there.. Training, recruitment processes, salary, safety kits, health facilities, education, basic needs of life are all what humans need to perform very well.. why do u think Nigerian league players cant compete with their counterparts in Europe? Their counterpart in europe have better training facilities, their educational level is high, they are well paid, they have basic needs of life, their health is well taken care of.. stop being sentimental about this.. if u want a better police force, tell ur leaders to do the right thing.. u can not pay an average policeman poorly, put him a poor barracks full of mosquitoes, no better car, doesnt know how family would feed, poor training, no safety kits, etc and u want them to behave like American police My brother, do u know that ur governors are protected by policemen? Do u know that some of your celebrities hire police men to protect them? have u seen Emoney police security officers? Do u know that those who work for governors and top politicians as police security officers get extra pay? I mean extra pay more than their salary! They are given good safety kits, they are motivated with good rides and they deliver very well. Have u seen ur politicians complain about their own security guards? Just browse Emoney police guards and see how a policeman should be kitted for mission! Emoney paid for those things and he takes care of his security men. He provided them with safety kits and great guns. He has budget for security every month.. My brother, why cant ur leaders take care of ur police just like they take care of theirs? My brother, this matter is clear except u just want to close ur eyes against the truth. |

Princedapace:all these have nothing to do with common sense, are they the only underpaid set of people in naija? last I checked, it's not by force, anyone who isnt happy can leave. Incompetence dey worry NPF |
| Re: Lady Loses Friend At LUTH Because There Was No Bed Space And Consultants by Princedapace(m): 11:00pm On Dec 04, 2017 |
NnamdiN:baba, u are very funny.. u cant compare police job with other jobs, pls. Nigerians are known to settle for less. Take it or leave it, u are just blinded by sentiment.. Nothing works here.. Lecturers are sleeping with young ladies and sorting courses.. doctors are fucking up, universities are in mess.. customer care representatives are messing up, your political leaders are messing up.. so, this is not about NPF, it is about a country called Nigeria, get that straight bro. or should i share my experience with NIM? Or banks? Or hospitals? Or what people are passing thru in universities and poly? Bro, check well, naija don cast, leave NPF alone and ask ur leaders to fix nigeria so that every sector can work. |

Princedapace:sentiment ke? I do not like them, I wont even hide that fact, I dislike everything that wears uniform in nigeria. I try as much as possible to avoid them and when I cant, I pay em off and move on with my life...I've encountered only a few good ones out of many. Assuming they behave the way they do because they are underpaid, what happens to all the money they ''steal'' from people? They cant even use it to better their lives you report a case, before they do anything, they ask how much you're gonna pay them to do their job. you still fuel their car you still pay to close the case...Baba forget sentiment, these people bad |

NnamdiN:were u expecting a poor and average police officer to fuel the car? that is one of the bad things we are talking about.. these officers go on patrol fueling the patrol van with their own money.. It is wrong, govt is meant to provide for these things.. but the officers u see on the road fuel with their own money.. Also, this job of theirs can take one's life within seconds.. They are meant to be on safety kits but Naija govt dont give a bleep about their safety. U keep talking about money they steal, bros, not all steal.. and those that steal are building houses and buying good cars. yes, those of them who dont steal live in poverty becus they are underpaid, no safety kit, no life insurance.. always remember the job is life and death kind of job.. Did u see the 6 mopols who were shot dead by fulani herdsmen few days ago? These guys go into deep forest to fight criminals and some of them die in the process for this useless country.. well, i av been in a station where a man came to report a case about a guy who has refused to pay him money he borrowed from him.. the officers there asked a young policeman to follow him and invite the man. I was waiting for the DPO. Few minutes later, the young police officer came with the man who borrowed money and the guy who reported the case.. The woman in charge of the case spoke to both of them and advised them. Few minutes later, they all agreed when the other guy would pay back. The man who reported the case was asked to accept part of the money from his debtor. The case ended professionally.. so not all of them are bad.. Do u want to tell me that where u worked, where u schooled, where u av been to, there are not good and bad staff there? I also had police case.. i bought a laptop for someone and few months later, i realized the laptop had issues with the motherboard.. the man was acting like a boss and was threatening me.. I took the case to a police station. i didnt know anyone there.. It was my first time and my last time of reporting a case at the station. A man was in charge of the case.. he asked a jenior officer to follow me and invite the computer seller.. we got to his shop, he was not around, the officer collected his number and called him with his own credit. He asked him to report to the station when he is back. Few hours later, I was called by the officer that the computer man had showed up.. I rushed to the station. three officers took us to a smaller room and spoke with us.. They now asked us to go outside and decide if we want to do police case or settle this issue between our selves. They spoke to us calmly and advised us to settle. They told the guy to pay high price of compromise and also told me to shift ground too. I was amazed at their level of friendliness.. A friend of mine reported his landlord to a near by police station recently. he was professionally attended to... Go to station and see how people keep visiting the station. If they are not delivering, i dont think people would go there. The day i was with a DPO, i was shocked at how people kept coming to station to report cases.. Also, at Ibadan, around the industrial estate, policemen are usually hired to protect company's facilities..I was driving the other day and i saw how these officers were playing and laughing with nearby citizens.. When i travel, i see people sit, joke, and play with officers who are strangers in those location.. So, i was stopped few months ago because they felt i was into internet fraud due to how i dressed.. i respected my self and answered them politely and provided the documents they needed.. a neighbor got into trouble recently with Federal sars becus he was seen at close scene where robbers robbed and left. So, they saw him and started asking him series of questions.. but he gave answers that were not corresponding with the evidence he provided.. They suspected him.. they had to follow him home and met his landlord to verify who he was.. it was after searching his house and found nothing, they left him. But they all smiled together.. people should ensure that answers they give correspond with the evidence they want to provide. yes, police is bad but bad like every other institution in Nigeria. I went to do my national ID and i saw hell. so, naija is messed up. |

9jakohai:Hi 9jakohai. I was wondering what the problem really is. Is the attitude of healthcare staff or funding? How did Cuba revamp it's health sector despite lack of funding? Having lived in this country long enough, I am beginning to realize it might not be funding after all. Some deaths at these University hospitals are quite avoidable if the staff intervened early; a quick surgery here, resuscitation there etc.. These do not need state-of-art medical equipment. I really want you to reflect on this. It may not be funding after all. If not funding? Could it be inadequate staff numbers or attitude? |
| Re: Lady Loses Friend At LUTH Because There Was No Bed Space And Consultants by Nobody: 7:18am On Dec 05, 2017 |
postemail:1.A little on Cuba...from my limited knowledge..they place emphasis on preventive medicine...and it has worked for them. BUT...their doctors are not paid very well, and most of their clinics/hospitals suffer from equipment issues too. 2.Nigerian hospitals are generally poorly equipped...at least the government ones. That does impact on care a lot.As an example...most hospitals dont have defibrillators..which makes CPR very very difficult. This is due to poor funding exacerbated by a)the fact that govt runs too many hospitals b)hospitals cannot raise fees c)we import most of the vital equipment we use from abroad...so when it breaks down, or gets faulty, we have to make do without because it would cost too much to repair and replace. 3.Yes, many teaching hospitals get busy largely because i Many cases that could be handled at primary or secondary care get handled at tertiary care. eg diarrhea ii there aren't enough tertiary hospitals 4.I hate to say this...but patients too come late. A patient breaks his leg. He goes to a bone setter quack who messes his leg up, and then by the time he comes to the hospital, the leg is gangrenous, and he has general sepsis, with multiple organ failure. And when he dies...guess who gets blamed? 5. We really don't have enough specialist doctors, or nurses in Nigeria...and because of poor funding due to 'free health care', corruption, and low money (we need trillions of naira for health, not billions)..medics are leaving. 6.Yes, doctors in Nigeria don't respond on time to calls...poor service is an issue. 7.Finally.....emergency medicine is not a thing in Nigeria. We do need more emergency physicians. Have to drop mic here... |

9jakohai:Honestly, when I look at the situation here and compare it to a few cities I have lived in, take for a example the dessert city of Ajman, I see an attitudinal issue here. We know the govt here doesn't care because they have misplaced priorities. I wonder why most doctors can not buy a cheap Chinese defribilator that cost less than $900? A greater percent of death in Nigeria are as a result of mis-diagnosis by doctors. For them every illness is typhoid and malaria fever. A recent case was a patient in Jos who died last two weeks due to TB. But for most of the time his doctor has been treating pneumonia. The issue came to ahead when he lost consciousness and was rushed to catholic hospital. Quite an avoidable death. We really should not wait for the health ministry or govt to help us run the structure of health facilities. There are head doctors at each of these facilities. They can put up a structure that makes emergency care a critical pillar of health care by having a doctor on standby and also give these doctors enough time to attend to their private practice since they are not regularly paid by the govt. Is manpower an issue? Do we have enough doctors and nurses? Don't you think the policy of making access to education so stringent is leading to lack of adequate man power. Doctors and nurses are leaving the country, why don't we let in more students into the course to compensate? Finally, I see the age-old Nigeria problem: mismanagement. No matter how low govt funding, the brains in these institutions can come up with the best strategy to make best use of the paucity. Many poor countries like Cuba still manage to run a good health care system. |

postemail:Exactly! Thank you for hitting the nail on the head! Didn't I say it before that several Nigerian doctors in public hospitals are some of the most uncaring and insensitive creatures anyone can come across? Many of them cannot deliver good quality healthcare promptly to patients in distress, due to their poor attitude. An older relative passed on a few years back in a public hospital, due to lack of blood. The blood bank was duly contacted, money was fully paid for cross-matching and other tests, but the blood was never delivered or transfused into the patient for over 5 hours, until he gave up the ghost. Why?? Till today, all the hospital staff offered were untenable excuses that simply did not make sense! Does a simple blood transfusion require state-of-the-art medical equipment, too? |
