Just to have something to report as achievement ahead of 2019, meanwhile SSANU is on strike for poor salary and infrastructural decay, ASUU is about resuming their prolonged strike. These APC should just cover their face in shame they cannot handle this nation simple and short. |

Islie: This is a good one yet again though going by the peripheral understanding of what they are to carter for in relation to their names and the location of some as well. The only thing is that they are privately owned and not Government or public as could be required to be called. Although the public type institutions could still be on the card as well in Truth in some of the locations as they are actually location centers for the scheduled PILGRIMAGE/HAJJ event coming up in NIGERIA next year 2018 in NOVEMBER for the Muslims & DECEMBER for the Christians as can be seen in a captured summary below. Although the composition and more have been on social media for some days now already but that not withstanding, let's also reproduce it here as well. Here it is below #REMINDER As the obedient & faithful Servants that you all are, It's high time you start planning for the below as your last article of faith in #Truth rather than #Deception. Location : #NIGERIA-WEST AFRICA Event : #PILGRIMAGE / #HAJJ Year : 2018 Time : #NOVEMBER (MUSLIM FAITHFULS) #DECEMBER (CHRISTIAN FAITHFULS) Centers : Muslim (#Lagos, #Oyo, #Sokoto & #Kano) : Christians (#Lagos, #Anambra, #Calabar & #Abuja) #PROPHET_TB_JOSHUA & #LOVELY_UNITARY_GOD-ALLAH www.facebook.com/tbjministries |

Desyner: [b]The subsidy they removed from oil, where is the evidence of all the fictitious investment? Are the refineries working now? Are we not still exporting crude and importing PMS? OR is there no fuel queue in your area today? Subsidized Tuition fee in public universities is about the only benefit we have left in the education sector and you want that to be taken away as well? Are you part of Buhari's BMC? 1 Like |

Pastor Ayo Oritshejafor is building a university at Omadino in the itsekiri speaking town near Warri, Delta state. By the time he complete that university if he ever had the money to complete it, that will add to the number of all this socalled MUSHROOM university our politicians are building with OUR MONEY. Dr Edwin Clarke, the Ijaw leader, also had his own E K Clarke University, the Ibru family also had their own university, so with the Igbenedian family. Infact, Chief Gabriel O. Igbenedion ( the Esama of Benin Kingdom ) started this endless jamboree of private university as it is on record as the first person to build and comission a private university in Nigeria. And now there is no end to it. At the governmental level, governors have join the jamboree of boys building state university even in state where there exist either a federal, state and private university. for example, Oshiomole ignored Ambrose University, Ekpoma to built a second state university called Edo state university Iyamho, near Auchi in Edo state. Ex-Vice President Abubakar Atiku had the American University, Yola, Obasanjo had the Bell University, Ogun state, IBB had the IBB university Minna etc The churches are not left out of this jamboree, Late Benson Idasoha had the Benson Idahosa University, Omobude had a polytechnic in Benin, Oyedepo had Covenant University in Ogun state, Adeboye had his own university -the Redeemer's University along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The same thing with governor Seriake Dickson who built the African University at Toru Arua in Bayelsa state even though ex-governor Alamesiegha (ALAMS ) built Niger Delta University at Wilberforce Island in his native area. Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan when he was President of Nigeria established a federal university at his native Otuoke community ( federal universities Otuoke ) including 8 other universities across various regions of Nigeria. Unfortunately, Jonathan never thought it necessary to create jobs. He only want to win popularity to enable his party win the presidency which never worked for him. The core northern states would have had more university if not for the fact that it is not profitable as most northerners are not too keen with education, they would prefer to even go without paying school fees. For over 25 years there have been a proliferation of universities in Nigeria both private and public universities by politicians in government and private entrepreneur. But the unfortunate effect of all this action is that there is no jobs to engage graduates after they pass out of school. Is there any wisdom in all this wicked action by the Nigerian leaders? The best way the federal government can address this proliferation of universities is to upgrade the existing infrastructure of the school, train the lecturers and most importantly those new universities should be made to run only specialized courses. We should have universities of tailoring, catering management, fire fighting school, welding school, diving school etc. Why run sociology, philosophy, public administration whereas there are countless university doing all this courses. There is also the HND AND BSC dichotomy issue that is yet to be resolved by the federal government. Our educational policy managers need to go to the drawing board to develop our educational goals to meet current day realities in Nigeria. The big question is why create mushroom of universities that is just like a glorified college? why create an educational institution without thinking that there should be industries to employ this school leavers or graduates? Why can't we copy countries like Botswana and Namibia that had fewer universities but the few ones they had is standard and of high qualities. Historically, none of our universities even the so called Ahamadu Bello university, ( ABU ) university of Ibadan, Uniben, UNN, Nsukka, University of Lagos UNILAG etc have made the world universities ranking. Any Nigerian leader that hit it to become President or Governor want to establish Universities and it is common mostly among southern politicians in Nigeria. Are our leaders and policy makers not deceiving themselves? We have a big problem in this country. Where are we going in this country? 1 Like |

Islie: Instead of the Buhari Govt to develop Education in Nigeria, they are privitasing Education! Even in advance countries like U.S and U.K where there are hundreds of private University, the PUBLIC Educational insitutions are still funded properly and are far better than what we have in Nigeria. Minister of Education loot education education budget and then approve more private University! |
Re: FG Approves Six New Private Universities (names) by Daboomb: 7:43am On Dec 07, 2017 |
wink2015: Well said. I am not even against anyone who can fund a private University, to building one. The problem is with the Govt of the day which has neglected its primary responsibility to the citizens, especially the poor ones who cant afford all this "Money-for-Certificate" private schools. Public Primary schools and Secondary Schools are left to decay and look like Chicken Coops. Teachers there act like they are in a trance and some arrange and decide to come to school for three out of five days! The students are left alone to grow wild. No wonder teachers cant pass the same Pry 4 exams of the students they claim to be teaching! Science Labs are dead, Sports is dead and we just rush the students to cram, cram and cram. Our educational institutions are a shadow of themselves today, compared to some decades ago when Nigerian insitutions like Uni-Ibadan, Unife, Unsukka, Uniben, Unimaid, e.t.c, earn foreign exchange with the influx of foreign students. Which foreigner wants to come to a Nigerian University today? Even Togo behind us here, has a lot of Nigerian student, can you imagine? Govt in Nigeria, especially this Democracy, is a FAILURE. |
