Last month my wife filled for (K-1) and all information submitted are accurate and truthful but birth certificate i submitted is the one issued by the Local government from my home town, now i am confuse because this same certificate i used through out my school days and for my school here in SA.

My questions are :

1: Is this birth certificate not recognize by USCIS, because i found a forum here and lots of people are talking about NPC birth certificate.

2: We hope this wont result to not getting approval on our case or what should do i do as we already received the form I-797C notice of application received.

Hello vo I'm scheduled to have my interview on January and was wondering if my visa could be sent to the DHS office in porthacourt as stated on the website, if it could be sent to porthacourt then are there chances for the visa to be lost during transit because a friend of mine told me that the chances of the visa to be lost during transit from Lagos to porthacourt is high so I want to verify how true this is.

Recently, she has been pushing that we relocate to US after my studies.
She claims to miss her family so much and can't leave me behind in Australia.
For me, Australia is a beautiful country with better wages compared to America. She insists that with my degrees, I'll be fine in America.

I do not want to go there on visiting visa.

Hello everyone I am new on here as someone introduced me here ..Now this is my issue ...An unfortunate incident happened as I got robbed and my passport was stolen with my ATM cards .. I went to the nearest police station to make a police report and avidavict as I was adviced to get a new passport before proceeding to the consulars office to make a report .A day to the new passport to be out , I got a call from the police that my passport has been recovered with other stolen items( Note: I haven't reported at the embassy yet) .. so I went to the immigration office and told them my passport has been recovered and asked if I need to go to the embassy again .. I was told that I don’t need to go the embassy that all they(immigration) will need to do is to put a cancellation on my old passport without tampering with my US valid visa on it since I got a new passport. I asked why? And I was told that Holding two valid passports will give me a problem, so in order to avert that , they will need to cancel my old passport but not the valid visa on it.So i was told that I will need to hold both my new passport and old passport while traveling (Note: I was told that a valid visa in an expired or canceled passport is still valid which I also did some few google search and saw that it's true)..so I want to ask if this is right and won’t give me a problem at the US POE ? Hello .. I have a lost but found passport containing my Us valid visa. I was robbed and I made I made a report to the police immediately and headed to the immigration to get an emergency passport reissued. I was called by the Police the third day that my passport has been recovered. So I headed to the immigration office to inform them that my passport has been recovered only to get there and meet my reissued passport out. So I was told that they will need to cancel my old passport without predujice and return it back to me since it still contains my Valid Us visa.
So I was told I will have to be travel with the new passport and the old passport.

Note: I NEVER REPORTED MY PASSPORT STOLEN TO THE US EMBASSY because I found it already.

Now my question is hope I won't encounter any problem traveling with the two passport ? Because my travel date is so very close.

Dear VO, I dropped a document and my passport at the DHL Dropbox office at Victoria Island Lagos on the 3rd of November, after 6 business days my wife was sent an email from the embassy about my case and why I do not qualify for the visa class (CR1). I was at the embassy for my K1 visa interview on the 6th of November. My visa was approved however I was told to submit a police certificate from London since I lived there for a while. The pleasant CO gave a site to follow per the police report application. She also handed me a white slip, circling where I'd drop off the documents with my passport and my visa will be ready 10 days from whenever I brought them in.
I took them in a week later. I've been tracking the progress of my application and it's says "Administrative processing". I've been reading through comments and AP is a blackhole. I've called and emailed the embassy but no joy.

My case number is LGS2017740017. I'm not sure if you deal with individual cases but I'd appreciate it if you could kindly look into our case.

This journey has cost us a lot of stress and money. Thank you so much for your help.

My husband had his CR1 visa interview just the day before Thanksgiving - his visa was approved, and he was told it would be ready for pickup within 10 business days. Today, his visa status on CEAC changed from Administrative Processing to Issued. Does that indicate that his visa may possible, could be, might be ready for pickup at DHL early this coming week?

I am busy trying to secure him an airline ticket, using SkyMiles, and the seats are filling up fast - and the price is climbing - due to the holidays. Our son and I want him here as soon as we possibly can arrange it, before Christmas - so I am just trying to map out a plan to arrange for his travel at the earliest possible moment.

A little story about my situation.
I am married traditionally, no traditional marriage celebration yet but bride price is already paid and all. Our traditional and white wedding is coming up July next year. I reside in the United states and I am a US citizen, i will be graduating school next year may 2018 and i want my husband to come for my graduation and after the graduation, we will both return to Nigeria for our marriage preparation, because that is where our both parents lives and also he is still in theological school in Nigeria because he is on the road to becoming a priest and next year will be his last year before he can be Ordained we don't want to jeopardized all the years he has put in for his passion. My school offers invitation letter to present at the immigration to family members and loved ones to attend graduation from out the country.

The story is that before my husband married me traditionally, he had went to the US embassy twice (in a space of two weeks) for a conference visa to attend a church conference that the church wanted him and his Mentor (Archdeacon) to attend and the church was sponsoring the trip, but was denied both times. The first time he got denied, he said that the interviewer told him he was too young (34 years old), but the church decided to send him back again to the embassy since the mentor they paired him up with to go to the conference got his visa, they thought that with that influence that the embassy will also issue him a visa since it was both of them that they are sending to the conference. The second time he was told that the conference is not enough reason to be going to America. The ironic thing is that the church sent him and his mentor on the same conference, but the mentor got the visa based on the conference that he was denied visa.

My question now is, since i want my husband to come for my graduation ceremony since i don't have family or loved ones here to attend. I am an only child. My first graduation, i felt so lonely and sad because everyone else had their family and loved ones with them but i didn't. I want him to be present at my graduation and after we both can travel back to Nigeria for the wedding ceremony and all, before I can petition for him to come live with me in the states. Please do you think that his previous appearance to the embassy will have any impact on him going again to the embassy since he went there already twice but this time with the invitation that my school will give to him. Or should i just forfeit him coming for my graduation and just fill fiance Visa for him after our wedding in July 2018 or just fill for Green Card for him.

Any advice will be gladly appreciated

It sounds like you are asking about the merits of filing for an immigrant visa over a nonimmigrant visa at this time. We cannot provide advice to applicants on such matters and I cannot comment on the NIV process. Please be aware that applicants who are traditionally married in Nigeria are considered married for the purposes of U.S. immigration and as such may not be issued fiance visas. These applicants are informed that they should file for spouse visas through USCIS. I hope this is helpful.

But I have another issue VO. I have been denied 4 times in the last 2 years for b1 b2 visas (lack of economic ties). And I am currently applying to US schools for fall 2018 session. While prior nonimmigrant visa applications may be reviewed during the immigrant visa adjudication, prior refusals in NIV are not necessarily relevant to that adjudication, as immigrant visa decisions are made based on the relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary.

The U.S. consulate is not involved in the filing of petitions. Petitions must be filed in the United States with USCIS and the filing process can be longer or shorter for a variety of reasons unrelated to the visa class. As such, we cannot comment on the relative lengths of time for different petitions.

I read on the checklist of items to bring along to the interview that I would need to bring along Original birth certificate and photocopy, I would like to know if my original attestation of birth would be given to me without the photocopy because I cannot currently find any copy of the attestation of birth. Note please she also gave me details about his previous application:
The first time he was denied on the 27th of Sept 2017, but the church scheduled an appointment for him (in space of two weeks) again in the notion that the Archdeacon that they are sending both of them to the conference got his visa. So he went for a second interview on 18th of October 2017.
In his ds160 form, she said that that husband said to her that, he put married because he was married (paid bride price) to a girl which things didn't work out with both reasons being that the previous girl (wife) couldn't cope with the church traditions, rules, and regulations. The girl’s family returned the bridal price to him at the end of September 2017 after 7 to 8 months of separation because the family wanted the girl's happiness. Within this period, my friend has traveled to Nigeria, the husband proposed to her, they got engaged and he married traditionally in November 2017 and they are now waiting for their white wedding and court wedding next year after her graduation. Which both of them plan to return to Nigeria together for the rest of the celebration, where both of their parents, family members, and friends are.
My friend's husband to what I understand is that he has to do a white wedding in Nigeria before he can be ordained a priest because that is the only wedding the church recognizes. Also if he leaves Nigeria without finishing his theological school, he will lose his chances of becoming ordained as a priest after putting in his 6 years in. I heard that he is very passionate about his ministry work.
Now my friends greatest fear is that she doesn't know what will happen if or when he goes back to the embassy with the invitation letter from her school here in the States to attend her graduation. If the interviewer would think or look at him like he is desperate to go to the United States when that is not the case. she doesn't know what to do, my friend is highly in limbo, cries and has sleepless nights about this situation.

Question 2:
Her husband has never done a white wedding or court wedding before. She stated that he can't get a divorce paper being that there was never a court wedding involved before or white wedding in his previous marriage. Does he have to get a letter stating that he is no longer married to the first girl (wife) or what can he do?


Question 3:
If it is possible for her husband to attend her graduation if he is filling out the Ds160 application again, what should he do or should he put my friends name as his wife even though there is no court marriage yet until July next year but he has pictures and their upcoming invitation for their wedding in Nigeria, and remove the first name he put in the previous application because he is no longer married to the first girl. Does he have to get a letter stating that he is no longer married to the first girl (wife) or what can he do?


I wish her well and I pray that her happiness will be complete soon because she really helped me when I was going through mine as well.

I would also like to know if an individual who has been denied on B1 B2 visa severally would have problems with a K1 visa (even though I pass all the requirements needed for this class of visa I.e calls n chats, receipts of gifts, travel history with my fiancee e.t.c.) or the person should just do a CR 1 visa.

Finally, I would like to know how long K1 or CR 1 visa takes to get completed.

My understanding is that we do not process K3 visas at the consulate at this time.

As previously noted, nonimmigrant visas and immigrant visas are adjudicated with different considerations in mind so prior B1/B2 refusals may not necessarily have a negative impact on the adjudication. Immigrant visas are adjudicated based on the claimed relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary. As for the length of time it takes for a petition to be filed, approved, and scheduled for an interview, it depends on a number of factors. As such, it is impossible to state with specificity how long the different processes would take.

When your petition is considered documentarily complete by the National Visa Center, they will schedule an appointment for you. You do not necessarily need to interview in Nigeria if you are living in the Philippines. You should make sure to contact the NVC and let them know your current residence for scheduling purposes.

Immigrant visas may only be collected at the GSS Document Collection Center in Lagos. If you cannot come to Lagos, you may fill out a proxy form to have another person collect it for you.
