Any jet can shoot down a superior fighter in my opinion. Imagine a super Tucano with AAM. If the Tucano is able to stay in a right position ( at the back of a SU-35) and then fires and AAM, it's obviously a kill for the Tucano.

In as much as some parameters are being fulfilled, it's possible.
soooo many things is wrong with this statement.

it doesn't obey the law of physics at all cheesy angry

One on one the probability of an F7 shooting down a Mig29 is very, very slim.

4F-7 on one Mig29....... grin shocked grin

And what if two, three or more Mig's attacks from different direction, what will the airforce do with limited interceptors . Don't forget we av only six air worthy FN-7 . So u attack for F7 just to bring down a Mig29. That would result to a collateral lost.

The bottom line is that we don't av what it takes to defend our air space.
My point is against Chad's mig-29. We're enough to defend against our own neighbors. Except if the big guys like France will be interfering.

What's the law of physics to be obeyed in there? You fire an AAM at an aircraft from behind? What will happen? Miss it target?

There are a lot of tension going on with our land borders with Cameroon and Chad. AND NEVER , EVER Under estimate the capabilities of your enemy. And even when they av superior air assets over you.

Nigerian media really needs extensive training on journalism for the next 10 years to catch up with the rest of the world.

Honesty I av not taken the P35 and thin shield radar into consideration. Thanks for refreshing our memories.

But the the question is how integrated are these hard ware to extend our airspace-eye reach.
I assure you the NAF is doing its best to integrate all

most effective IADS operates with multi layered coverage

u will need short range medium range and long range sam for a effective IADS

IFF is to identify allied MILITARY aircraft. What about non-hostiles like civilian airliner or just hobbyist light aircraft with unknown intentions? you can't really know all this from the ground using radar technology alone.

SAMS are mostly used as a 'force multiplier' and as a PSYOP as you rightly said.

a SAM can't really substitute manned aircraft. The US tried it, it failed flat
Now we are going in circles. You never mentioned Civil craft. if that comes to the picture those air traffic control of NAMA will hail the craft. If it behaves irrational then alarms bell rings

pantsir will be a good asset for protection of mobile army columns

CAS aircrafts will have to fly low for engaging ground targets and therefor vulnerable to pantsir

it aint that simple , if we war game it (theoretically)

multiple scenarios will come up

some of which will make pantsir not effective

eg. why will the enemy ingress low over the sector covered by pantsir ? why not avoid it / bypass it /out range it

eg. if enemy is hell bent on press home his attack inspite of presence of pantsir well within the engagement range then it will have to pay the price.

there will always be pros and cons

Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Nobody: 4:30pm On Dec 12, 2017
I hope you understand two MiG-29 can and will take on and shoot down six F-7 N on a good day. The F-7N is built to be a high speed interceptor, which means basically fly high, fly fast. It's not particularly a good dog fighter. The MiG-29 was built to be an air superiority dog fighter. It has three D thrust vectoring, bettor radar, electronic hammers and more importantly can execute tight manoeuvres even at stall speed. The F-7 can do no such. In a dog fight it will always overshoot, the MiGs and will always have a MiG 29 behind it. The MiG is faster, can fly higher and can shoot down those Chinese copies from a low angle of attack.

you have been saying this for a long time now.... but the reality is that when the Chadian air force was hit by a storm only one mig -29 was SLIGHTLY DAMAGED according to media reports.

the fate of the other jets are currently unknown. that doesn't mean that they were destroyed.

why dont u guys buy man portable low level radar , these r easily transpotable and can be set up anywhere and even mounted on vehicles

these cost very little and mounted on hills/mountains their coverage is considerable

many other international vendors r also there

please read and comprehend. I was referring to a general term and not pointing to the Nigerian Air Force.

CGI works well in ANY country when there is a solid ground support infrastructure.
