Those comparing F-7 to MiG-29 should go and read up air warfare maneuver. You'll see why the F-7 has zero chance against the MiG-29 in most combat conditions.

except the MiG is just been generous.

you have been saying this for a long time now.... but the reality is that when the Chadian air force was hit by a storm only one mig -29 was SLIGHTLY DAMAGED according to media reports.

the fate of the other jets are currently unknown. that doesn't mean that they were destroyed.
The Chadian AF had between six and eight Mig-29's before the storm. Two got destroyed in their aircraft hangers in a storm. But that's nothing. They have four SU-24 in service. The presence of French Mirage 2000's act as a force multiplier, but even with the Mirage the Chadian AF strike assets supersedes that of Nigeria by a long shot. The Alpha jet is no match for the SU-24. Neither is the F-7 a match for the MiGs. Nigeria has an overwhelming edge numerically and qualitatively in attack helicopters. Our monopoly on combat drones was negated when the Americans activated their Reaper Drone base in Cameroon and Niger. Technically the France and the U.S can decapitate out leadership with a drone stroke. Aso Rock Villa is without air defense systems. We have two of the most technologically advanced militaries right in Our very own backyard. This should spur Nigeria to embark on a massive defensive re-armament program. The reverse is the case. We are just dragging our feet, crawling. Unbelievable

Chad has Mig -29 and Mig -25. Three Mig 29 orders since 2009 and only one has been delivered since then.

Do you know since when NIGERIA has been operating jf17s too in her dreams? angry

Let forget about Chad, our airforce is in a bad shape and it's disheartening the government doesn't take this issue to be a serious one.

CGI works well in ANY country when there is a solid ground support infrastructure.

General term? This is general term?

flying GCI would work if we had solid ground based air surveillance assets.

I hope you understand two MiG-29 can and will take on and shoot down six F-7 N on a good day. The F-7N is built to be a high speed interceptor, which means basically fly high, fly fast. It's not particularly a good dog fighter. The MiG-29 was built to be an air superiority dog fighter. It has three D thrust vectoring, bettor radar, electronic hammers and more importantly can execute tight manoeuvres even at stall speed. The F-7 can do no such. In a dog fight it will always overshoot, the MiGs and will always have a MiG 29 behind it. The MiG is faster, can fly higher and can shoot down those Chinese copies from a low angle of attack.

Only our borders with Cameroon have hills/mountain (I stand to be corrected). those with Niger are relatively flat

We all deserve proper security. I see some countries lawmakers doing every possible thing to strengthen their defense but it's not so here in Nigeria.

one important thing u guys r missing

mig29

f7n

what is the turnaround time of both of these aircraft's ?

once they land after a mission how much time will it take to run maintenance , perform mandatory inspection checks , replace engine if needed , refuel , rearm , preflight checks etc ?

technical term is maintenance hours per flight hour

the more time they r on ground the more the enemy will pose a risk

the more time they r in air the more the enemy will be at risk

No my dear friend you are missing the whole point.

there is no coming back to base for one of the two jet. their life would end in just one interception... so we want to know who would not return.

there isn't enough jets for a backup or second wave.

The Vietnam war says different
In Vietnam the Americans thought the era of dogfighting are over so they equipped their phantoms with missiles alone without gunpods. This was just 2 decades after WW2 when air to air missile technology was in its in infancy. The Americans learnt a bitter lesson. The next time the USAF went into action it flattened whatever stood in its way. Truth be told what is the sense in spending $500,000 training one pilot, even sending some to war colleges abroad only to send them to their death in an aircraft that stands no chance against a 4th Gen fighter.

But i gotta ask. What exactly is preventing the NAF from acquiring modern combat aircrafts? Its been 12 years and a decade of war, what exactly is the problem. We trying buying combat jets from the West but they end up embarassing us. We announce several deals with Eastern countries and over time it fizzles away. Rather we are borrowing Super Mushank from Pakistan. In the 80's Nigeria produced several prototypes of its home built Albatross. 20 years down the line we arw borrowing trainers. This is not normal. Something is really wrong somewhere.

Lionel4power if you listen to news you'll be misinformed and if you don't, you'll be uninformed.

N'DJAMENA (Reuters) - Chad's military said it had carried out air strikes against Boko Haram bases in Nigeria in retaliation for twin suicide bombings in Chad this week that killed at least 34 people, but the announcement was strongly rejected by Nigeria.

The air raids caused heavy human and material damage to six of the Islamist militants' bases, Chad's military said late on Wednesday, without providing further details.

Nigerian authorities denied reports that the attacks had taken place on its soil, saying they were likely to have instead hit targets in neighbouring Niger.

"The claim that the Chadian military have conducted air strikes against six terrorist camps in Nigeria is not correct," said military spokesman Major General Chris Olukolade.
