Re:Report on NDA Cadets Absconding From Academy

1. The attention of the Nigerian Defence Academy has been drawn to a report, specifically on instablogngr, in which the writer purports that some cadets of the Academy abscond from the institution for days, keeping their military uniforms and other property in the care of Fulani herdsmen. The Nigerian Defence Academy genuinely appreciates the vigilance and forthrightness of the writer of the article and wish to assure the writer and other well - meaning Nigerians that the Academy authority have duly noted his observations and a full scale investigation is underway.

2. Furthermore, we wish to reinforce the confidence of the public that our cadets are being trained under the strictest and most disciplined environment, as befitting of a world class military training institution. There are established procedures and guidelines that ensure cadets remain in the Academy. All cadets are to remain in the Academy except when duly authorized to leave, as provided by the rules and regulations of the Nigerian Defence Academy. For instance, any cadet discovered to be absent from the Academy for a period of 72 hours will be Struck of Strength (SOS) and ceases to be a cadet of the Academy. All our cadets are aware of this and strict enforcement ensured where a cadet is found to have erred.

3. Again, the Nigerian Defence Academy appreciates vigilance of the writer and avers that security is the collective responsibility of all Nigerians, be they military personnel or civilians.

Power of the social media

This is just to confirm that some cadets actually absconded. They are afraid to state the obvious.

During training courses of this nature, there's what They call tattoo, conducted twice daily. Morning and night.

It assist the management of the academy know if the Cadets are complete or not.

It also reveals those dodging some trainings/exercises/lectures/fatique/etc.

Since d report emerged, tattoo must have been taken more than 10 times.

Residents around that area should be watchful.


What we should be asking now is whether those that ran had been trained in weapon handling? So that we can know the direction of the matter

Hope they are not bolo haram members?

It is only a cadet whose godfather is not strong that is dismiss or punish.Now tell me,if a cadet whose godfather is buratai,obasanjo,buhari or the chief of defence abscond from the academy,will such cadet by punish?The NDA is an elite force, mostly dominated by northerners.No poor man is admitted.Except,by luck.
