I agree to an extent, because the government is accountable to everybody both those who vote and those who don't and whatever decisions they make directly affect the lives of everyone irrespective of religion, whereas the pastors are accountable to believers and their decisions only affect their members and not Christianity in general.

Though some activities of some pastors are mundane, we should be more critical of the government we vote into power.

I have never commented on any issue relating to tithe and it is none of my business .Did I in anyway say that churches do not help the less privilege?And whether they announce it on CNN is not an issue what matters is the sincerity of the heart when doing such a thing.Government has failed yes ,we know and we would continue to criticize government and vote out bad leaders in every election.And yes the pastors and their churches owe me nothing,but that does not mean they cannot give assistance to government.It is just like saying that private individuals should not own companies and employ people because it is government's job to do so,or UNor UNICEF granting aid because it is the job of Nigerian government to do so.Responsibility is everybody's job and not government alone,the missionaries that built schools and made education cheap should have left it for government i am sure some of our parents would not be able to go to school if they had left it for government.Government has a role to play and they must play it,but government as well is you and I.I am not in anyway criticising the church and i can never do so but then, the church is registered under the NGO and NGO's are expected to help the society.Thank you.

He's right. Paying tithe is a matter of choice. It's not compulsory.

Tax is compulsory. The country's resources are a joint heritage. We need to monitor how it is spent. We see our polithiefcians becoming multimillionaires overnight and do nothing about it. They even flaunt their designer stuff, new mansions, exclusive luxury cars etc and people hail them. Some of those grappling with poverty as a result of this still fight on their behalf cos of crumbs from the table.

For instance, Governors are owing salaries and pensions yet there's no impeach xyz Governor hashtag. We have a long way to go.
