survival in Germany is better when you seek asylum as a new comer, then you will be entitled to an accommodation, monthly social benefits including cash for upkeep, clothes and a free deutsch kurs if you want to learn the language, you might also have a work permit to work, then u start up from there. But with the visit visa u are on your own with the person that invited you. Except you are coming for business.

well survival in Germany with visit visa is like surviving in Nigerian prison. Is better to use student visa thank visit.

getting the asylum is not that easy. i had a friend who slept in wheelhouse foe 3 years because of police. seeking for asylum. is even better to stay in Nigeria and have your freedom.

dont say what you dont know. Everybody I mean everybody can apply for asylum in Germany and entitled to the benefits I already mention in my post above. The asylum may be denied but you have a right to a lawyer in which an appeal may keep you for up to a year before the case can be called up, if u are favoured by God the result will come out favourable but if it turn out to be another negative u also have the right to reapeal. But nobody that has successfully applied for asylum is sleeping on the streets except his asylum has been denied or he dont know what he is doing.

Great thread. I've been planning to study in Canada with a view to settling there. My problem is I don't think my kids will be given a visa with me (I have 2 boys, 11 and 12). The whole Canada ish is too stressful so I've decided to apply to European schools as a viable plan b. The truth is I actually prefer a European education for myself and my boys. I like the idea of Germany because of its strong economy. I don't mind the language issue as I plan to learn german immediately although my studies will be in English. My kids are currently learning german and French in school so I think they'll be fine. I am looking at doing a Bachelors degree which is 3 years, giving me enough time to acquire a permanent stay. Is this a good plan? I am widowed so I will be alone with my kids. I have some money so I should be reasonably comfortable until I find some work.

I think I can say a few things to help you as I am about 3 years old in Germany. Well the truth be said, like every other person that has said something here. Coming to Europe as a Student is your best bet, except you come as a skilled worker. You will definately get something doing when u come as a student to carter for yourself and kids. What i dont really get with your post is if you want to come here with your Kids or not but if you want to come with them, I hope you know the cost implication. The embassy may require you to show as much as 8k euro for each of them to guaranttee their sustainance. If the cost can be afforded, then my other advise to you is not to come and study just for the sake of it. YOU MUST study what is actually in demand here in other to get a chance of securing a job aferwards. Learn the language to at least B1 or B2 level at Goethe Institute Lagos even before you leave Nigeria. You stand a better chance doing well meaningful jobs as a student with the language skill. I must also tell you that it is going to be a very big disavantage for you compared to your pairs in class because your Kids cant work and that is definately an extra burden for you coupled with the very demanding academic load. By the time you get a Bachelor here and Masters and you have the ability to speak German very well, you will be glad you did. Finally, I think it will be best if your Kids can stay back in Nigeria. I said this because the living cost will not be as killing compared to bringing them here. Before you can even get the visa, you must secure a living space, I mean an accommodation that suits the 3 of you. That could cost as much as 500 to 700 monthly. Thats just my advise but if you think you are up for it, why not

please I want to ask, are u presently in Germany?

I have about 1m naira and I want to relocate to UK for greener pasture... Someone should please guide me on visa processing, as I have nobody as a sponsor or anybody in UK to accommodate me... Please help a brother because I'm so tired of Nigeria...

Great responses guys, apart from telling us which country is better, we would also love to know the possibilities and ways of making head way with a visit visa. Your guidance will be well appreciated.

Which of these eu countries can one readily get a job as a lecturer? Or where english speakers are common apart from Ireland and Malta? My spouse is British, but I have no intention of settling in the UK due to Brexit. I pefer an eu country where you can get citizenship within 6 years after 5 year resident permit as spouse of eu citizen.

Lot of challenges ahead of your decision as both of you are still very young. Make sure you have some thousand of dollar to settle in for some months anyhere you're going,the road is not smooth as you think. God will see you through.
