If only states can toe the path of Lagos (the least Allocation dependent state) by engaging in agricultural activities. Gradually, the policies from the top are spiralling down to the bottom. The sad thing is people need money in their pockets to enjoy this and our state governors are not helping by not paying salaries. Rice is cheaper here in Benue but it is a "Civil Servant dominated" state: Few monies chasing these goods. I hope Fayose can learn what stomach infrastructure truly is . 23 Likes 1 Share |

Ehiscotch: Just agriculture? Revenue diversity is the father of successful economy. Ogun state is toeing that path. 9 Likes 1 Share |

Kebbi is to produce, Lagos is to sell... nice combo! 5 Likes |

Osucoward:Not just agriculture, sir. But Agriculture goes a longer way in alleviating the grief and easing the pangs of inflation. If the people can afford cheaper food then it would mitigate the on going tensions. Besides, not every state is as geographically blessed as Ogun state to benefit from its proximity to Lagos. Then again, some states might be agro based and it can be enough. I also believe it is relatively cheaper and it creates employment too. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Ehiscotch: Ogun state has always been proximal to Lagos. Proximity is not the only thing helping. Remember Ogun state of 8 years ago? The one box heads and poor clowns loves belittling? 1) Ogun, like Lagos, is also close to the Atlantic Ocean 2) Ogun is viable for industrial growth 3) Investors trust Ogun state 4) Ogun has leaders with vision. They harnessed all of Ogun's benefits to bring in investors 5) Ogun indigenes [and Yorubas in general) are passionate about making the state/region grow. All these factors work together to make Ogun the fastest growing state atm. I'm not disagreeing with you that agriculture sustains the economy, I just don't want us to streamline on agriculture and neglect other economical sectors. 7 Likes |

Osucoward:What? There are a whole lot of variables in play. That would have been considered long before the MOU. Why do you think it wasn't grown in Lagos instead? Every state has their comparative advantage and we are talking welfare of Nigeria's most populous city, you can't be sentimental about that. 2 Likes |

They should use TAX receipt to select true tax payers and ensure ingrates don't eat more lake rice than Lagos taxpayers. Won't be surprised if SARS official start seizing lake rice heading for places where it is neither planted nor sponsored. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Not sure if they have improved the quality but this rice is so short!!! The grains are almost all divided into 2 or 3 pieces. Still eating it. They need to increase standard 1 Like 2 Shares |

Osucoward: Lagos has the ready market, other southwestern states should up their game by being the major food producer for Lagos and for themselves. If the Southwest combined can produce about ,5 million of fresh milk daily through zero grazing likewise for beef then trailers loaded with cattle from the North will no longer heading to the Southwest. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Osucoward:Greater dependency could lead to a formidable independence. Majority of that rice is grown in Kebbi. Both states are interdependent; Nigeria is independent. 1 Like |

Some people would be shouting Abakaliki rice from January to November but in December would carry Lagos and Kebbi rice to their region as if they are suffering famine there. 8 Likes |

Quality20: Igbos are dependent on the north for food. The only thing consumed in the East which is produced in Igbo land is palm oil and the vegetables eaten there. Every other thing, the North supplies. That's why during the civil war, when the north stopped supplying, kwashiokor took over the Biafra side. Unfortunately, the present set of Igbos are more interested in playing to the gallery than actual results. Look at Obiano and his Fifty shades of folly. Inexistent rice and ugwu exports to nowhere. 7 Likes |
