It was a wanton charade by UN. That election is a diplomatic misfire that should not have happened. U.S is a sovereign nation with right to move their capital and recognize any place in the world. The vote against that decision is so useless that it will further show how weak UN has become. Nothing will happen to U.S and Israel. That decision of Trump stands. America carries 22 percent of entire UN budget. If they withdraw that. UN will retrench staff for the first time in History. Humanitarian aid world over will feel the impact. The vote was wrongly timed. Diplomatic reach out should have continued....see Nigeria wey dey beg U.S for military arms and support dey vote against them. Issoari
Welcome back!!! At the bolded, haven't you heard Buhari is not a smart person? |

SoNature:Dependence itself breeds corruption and it is corruption that allows problems like nepotism to thrive. Are you not ashamed that in the 21st century, your country still imports little things like toothpicks and pencils? You think we can overlook self-reliance to tackle corruption? Now, to the topic. You like Trump because he appears to have guts but guts belong only to the stone age. This age is an age of brains and diplomacy. Claims to the ownership of Jerusalem has always been very hotly contested between the mostly Jewish Isreali state and the mostly Arabian Palestinian state. Jerusalem holds just as much significance to the Jewish people as it holds for the Arabs and Christians. The claims are always contentious and the city was thus stated as belonging to both states as a measure to curb violence pending when a much better solution is proffered. So far, a succession of American presidents have obeyed the decision only for Trump to come and disrupt it. Can I ask you a simple question: How has Trump helped solve the lingering conflict over Jerusalem? |

Johnrake69:God forbid, I reject it on behalf of Nigeria. Nigeria will move from Frying Pan to Fire with him...All his dictatorship tendencies will come out, because this is a state without respect for the rule of law. He will line up his pocket and be the richest man in the world. Hatred and Bigotry will shoot of the roof. What campaign promises did he fulfill? All the hatred promises? All the anti-Obama policies? he's only being able to pass one or two laws through the House. |

What makes Jerusalem so holy? Christianity, Islam and Judaism, the three religions trace their shared origins back to the biblical figure of Abraham. Jerusalem, a Middle Eastern city west of the Dead Sea, has been a place of pilgrimage and worship for Jews, Christians and Muslims since the biblical era. Its Old City has significant religious sites around the Temple Mount compound including the Western Wall (sacred to Judaism)> a remnant of the retaining wall of the mount on which the Holy Temple once stood. Inside the temple was the Holy of Holies, the most sacred site in Judaism. ......Jews believe that this was the location of the foundation stone from which the world was created, and where Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac. Many Jews believe the Dome of the Rock is the site of the Holy of Holies. Today, the Western Wall is the closest place Jews can pray to the Holy of Holies. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre (a Christian pilgrimage site) .According to most Christian traditions, Jesus was crucified there, on Golgotha, or the hill of Calvary, his tomb is located inside the sepulchre and this was also the site of his resurrection. Dome of the Rock (a 7th-century Islamic shrine with a gold dome). The mosque is the third holiest site in Islam ...Muslims believe the Prophet Muhammad travelled here from Mecca during his night journey and prayed with the souls of all the prophets. A few steps away, the shrine of the Dome of the Rock holds the foundation stone, where Muslims believe Muhammad then ascended to heaven. |

Chukazu:Yes I would have preferred Nigeria to stay neutral in things like this but the fact is that it didnt. But then again, I see no reason why you have to start lamenting about it being an Islamic agenda by the FG; several other non-Islamic countries towed the same line. |

asunmoGGMU:Are you new in world maters? why do you think the Arab nations and other islamic nations are doing what they are doing? Do you not see ISIS and others providing support because they are muslims and for the temple mount. so you answer, Is it a vote between Islam and Christianity? Simple YES or NO? |
| Re: UN Jerusalem resolution: How each country voted by Blue3k(m): 10:19am On Dec 22, 2017 |
Everyone knows US and Israel wrong in this situation. Besides Israel has most in resolution against it bar none. This isn't first time Un voted against USA. If USA takes ball home so what. Nigeria need to quit relaying on foreign aid anyway. The United States is only isolating itself if it tries to carry out promise. |

obailala:I understand. But in a country like ours where people feel more "Roman Catholic" than the Pope ,more Islamic than " Mohammed" it is bound to happen It was the same "sheepish" obedience to UNITED NATIONS that made us lose BAKKASSI penisula to Cameroon; while China can carve out entire East China Sea as it territory and disregard the United Nations; Russia can annex CREMEA from Ukraine and disregard UNITED NATIONS and we always quick to obey |
