sinorte:Let me suggest that you receive quotes by email instead of an open bidding process which you have initiated by asking contractors to drop their quotation in the open. my reasons are as follows 1. If you are a layman in the construction industry, there is a 99 percent tendency that you would want to go for the bidder with the lowest contract sum. Although you need to understand that the lowest bid does not always guarantee a qualitative delivery. You need to balance quality of work with contract cost. 2. Every contractor knows that you are on the look out for the lowest contract cost. so assume Mr A gives an estimate of 100 naira, there is a tendency that Mr B would want to give you at 90 naira just to gain your confidence with the 10 naira price difference. And bear in mind that there are more hustling contractors on nairaland that the professional ones. Cheers |
