Nairaland saved me

I got the news about this fuel scarcity here on nairaland about 3 weeks ago.

I then bought 50 liters worth of petrol then @ the rate of 145 per liter, I won't be visiting any petrol station in weeks to come.

Information is power
You need to refrain from such habit. It is very risky. It may lead to fire disaster
You don't have to endanger you life and that of others. It is a fleeting problem .Will soon be over
Please never repeat that
You might have been lucky getting away with that so far but it doesn't stop the risks !

I knew they are trying to create artificial scarcity the moment NNPC and it’s subsidiaries started arguing among themselves earlier this month
So what is NNPC benefit by creating artificial scarcity, are they selling at higher prices to the marketers or collecting commision from from the proceed of the price increase huh

Yes! most depots are selling above normal price DPP raised the alarm few days ago so they are probably collecting commision

THE WORSE THING IS THAT IBE KACHUKWU MAY NOT WRITE ANOTHER MEMO THAT WOULD HAVE EXPOSED THE ACTUAL CAUSE OF THIS FUEL ISSUE.

BARU IS STILL UNSCATHED SINCE AFTER THE OTHER MEMO, THUS NO NEED TO WRITE ANYTHING NOW.

IF BARU HAD BEEN PROPERLY PROBED, THE OIL SECTOR WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN NIGERIANS INTO THIS MESS. THERE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE DELIBRATE ARRANGEMENTS PUT IN PLACE TO PREVENT THIS NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT. IT CANNOT BE BY LUCK/CHANCE THAT WE WILL NOT HAVE SCARCITY DURING THE YULETIDE.

WE'RE STILL HOPEFUL ON NIGERIA!

So, you now have what we call a double warning. NNPC is suddenly finding its importing what they probably didn’t expect in terms of volume and the fact that Nigerians themselves are consuming more volume that they will normally consume in earlier months.

He also re-iterated on the fact that neighboring countries are selling fuel at more that $1 per liter. Of which $1 in Nigeria today is about N360.

"Couple with the fact that the countries that are surrounding us as a nation are all selling fuel at more than $1 per liter. $1 today is about N360. If you go to Cotonou, Ghana, Niger so is is not unlikely that some of our petrol is finding itself across the body to these countries".
