Yes, they should start paying tax and reduce noise in the street and neighborhood. Imagine having 5 mosque and 10 church In just one street and noise will be coming from every angle. In abroad, it's noise pollution. it's illegal and has a fine if too much noise is coming out from your church or mosque. The earlier we focus less on religion in this country, the better for us. Even as mosque and church full everywhere with everyday prayer and casting, we are still backward and suffering. |

BetaThings:We have enough laws on taxes in Nigeria. Taxing religious organization isn't healthy for a nation like Nigeria that generates taxes but does not utilize it. The federal government is already collecting 10 taxes while the state has about 20 taxes and levies already. They use made do with those ones instead of looking for ways to steal in the name of tax laws. Come to think of it, tax outght to redistribute income but the reverse is the case. If the government needs more revenue, they should contact me for ideas instead of taxing religious organization. Nigeria is very religious and sensitive |

the past money they have generated that made Lagos to be tagged third largest economy in West Africa, I beg what have they been using the money for? The means of making the rich getting richer. One thing is to collect tax and another thing is for the tax to be judiciously used to better the life of the masses |

a country where tax payers suffer at the point of collecting pensions after retirement. It is evil for anyone to support this government on this. The available Job opportunities that are supposed to be given to masses alike are been given as slots to politicians and the Job then given to their family members, and yet u think this govt is doing u favour, come to think on this. |

Xisnin: I understand your point. But you don't seem to get my point. If I give you a birthday gift of N50k. Is it legal for you to be taxed for receiving that money? Also note that only profit can be taxed. If you invest N200k (capital) in a business and it yielded N220K (profit + capital). Only the N20k profit can be taxed. |

palladin: Anything can be made legal by legislators. If you look at things in a rigid manner you might think it is impossible to tax any income apart from profit. In system where taxes work, gift, inheritance are not exempted from taxes. There need not be "profit" for their to be a tax, having an income is all that is needed. Take civil servant for instance, they are not making profit in strict business sense but are being taxed. |
