See neurosurgeons as rightly advised though I doubt if surgery Will be recommended. They might choose conservative management |

Mohito500:there is almost 99% chance you will require surgery, from the scan report, you have a hematoma, meaning that there is bleeding or a gathering of blood in the brain so that blood will have to be drained and that will require surgery. |

I would have advice a little if I only understand the formula used in writing those ambiguous words. But anyway I join the rest to say what they've said. God is your strength |

The oedema in the report caught my eye. Do you have any swelling in any part of your body? Legs, feet, ankle? Do you experience difficulty walking? I feel a full body CT scan should have been done though and not just the brain. |

Mohito500: Okay. Since you were aware of your medical history, you should not have stopped the high BP drugs. The numbness is not a good sign. You can see another doctor for a different opinion. |

ultron12345:Why do you think he will require surgery, he should be reviewed by one of those you mentioned up there, I still doubt they will go for surgery, with my little interaction with some of those people you mentioned , he will most likely be managed conservatively except there are other signs not mentioned up here 1 Like |
Re: Wo by ultron12345: 10:10pm On Dec 30, 2017 |
SmallmebigGod:If the hematoma were to be in another part of the body, conservative management will work but not in the brain, it will have to be suctioned out through a craniotomy as soon as possible to avoid further complications such as brain herniation which can be fatal. |
Re: Wo by SmallmebigGod: 10:33pm On Dec 30, 2017 |

Mohito500:This is an intraparenchymal hematoma, obviously due to a CVA Since you are more or less in a stable condition, its unlikely you would need a surgery. You would be fine, just need to pay attention to your BP. The team of doctors would however come up with the best decision, they have more information about your condition at their disposal than we do. 1 Like |

helovesme:No dear, the oedema is reactive, a sign that the normal inflammatory process is taking place which is a good thing, as brain macrophages would breakdown the hematoma. It also doesn't have anything to do with peripheral oedema, what we should be concerned about is signs of raised intracranial pressure which I doubt he has. Last last, the medical team would have to make the best decision for him. 2 Likes |

Frenchfriez:is the numbness not a possible sign of raised intracranial pressure |
Re: Wo by Nobody: 12:29pm On Dec 31, 2017 |
ultron12345:No its not. Its a pressure effect of the hematoma on the part of the primary motor cortex which carries contralateral corticobulbar fibres controlling motor functions of the limbs. Hence the hemiparesis. Our friend likely had an intraparenchymal vessel rupture due to the HTN 1 Like |

Mohito500:Brain surgery for what? Oga, please run away from any advice suggesting craniotomy and neurosurgery. Your problem is not enough to warrant invasive surgical management for ordinary numbness. I know of a criminally and financially motivated neurosurgical intervention on a patient with stroke that was referred from a Port Harcourt 'church member' to UNTH, Enugu and from there, patient was deceived by some doctors there to a private neurosurgical specialist clinic in the area. (We know the name). Patient spent close to N2,000,000 (Two million naira) For a few minuites of exploratory cranio-surgical intervention (without any findings to justify their action) The patient was referred to UPTH, Port Harcourt (to hide their tracks) and he died about 10days later. Doctors, this is criminal o. This patient would have been alive with his condition till today o, because his condition before intervention was very stable. ......................... In other to improve your condition the safest thing to do is to access the benefit of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (hbot). HBOT will reduce brain inflamatory responce, brain edema, intracranial pressure; it will reactivate dormant and weakened brain cells, releasing stemcells into circulation to enhance healing and replacement of dead neurones (brain cells), increase blood circulation and oxygen in arrears of deficit. There is no other drug in our medical practice that can achieve this feat. Let someone challenge the fact (but not me o, because I no get power to fight) etc, etc. Abeg there is no better deal! See for yourself now! Google: hbot and stroke. Nnaa if the info sweet you give us a shout, not e-mail o. HBOT for stroke: because from our experience just add hbot to your treatment and see for yourself. |
