The meaning I could give the movie based on my own understanding is that......

Something connected the two which is LOVE. Upon all the sufferings, pains, neglect, short-term happiness, surface care et al.. she still stayed for the LOVE. At a point she wanted to leave but was persuaded based on Hope of a better time to come.

She eventually got so hurt that made her heart strong and still. The heart she had been feeling, which pump blood always. Stopped. When she lost the most precious thing to her. She became completely devastated and resulted to suicide. She then realized it has not been LOVE all along. Felt nothing else was worth it, she burned herself to death.

Realized she was dead. He felt so sorry and full of regrets. He looked for her heart, use something, a stone, to immortalize her strong heart.It became the only thing that kept him happy and alive. No one must near it, if the immortalize object is destroyed. He will lose himself and return to his sorrows and regrets of his selfish deeds of the past.


Why stayed in a situation that is not full of happiness.

Why commit to something that does not support your views.

Why is our world full of selfish leaders who leave most things that need to be attend to and care for. Only for their actions to bring war and chaos.

Anyone with a rather different meaning should share.

I've seen lots of people argued back and forth on this film. But to me, it's a movie I enjoyed. Some people cannot withstand watching the rigorous incident the lady was going through, and the way she's actin dumb. to be candid, I was furious too, but I kept on watching till the end simply because I love good acting (a good actor should be able to convince you that she's dumb). The last scene made the movie a bit meaningful to me.

That is not the first woman the guy made to go through such ordeal, in the last scene, the process was to be started all over again with another lady. it's like a cycle of life, and he played God that toys with human feelings.

The movie was annoying at some points. I think that is what the writer and director want us to feel......, The pain she went through.

Why don't just use the movie to give your meaning as I did. What represent the Earth and God.

Every character in this film represents a character or story from the Bible. Javier Bardems character represents the abrahamic God. Because just like God, he is obsessed with being worshipped by humanity. Biblically, he created the earth for the sole purpose of housing humanity. Which is why he only caters to his worshippers in the film and completely ignores Jennifer Lawrence's character which represents Mother Earth/Mother Nature.

The house also represents Mother Earth. Her and the house are one. Which is why both the house and her share the same heartbeat. Michelle pfeiffer and Ed Harris represent Adam and Eve because they are the first people, outside of God (Bardem) and the earth (Lawrence), to set foot in nature. And they are constantly tempted to go touch the sacred stone after being told numerous times by a higher authority to not touch it. Their sons played by the gleeson brothers represent Cain and able

My final ratings? 5/10 and that's because of my age-long respect for Jackie Chan alone. Nevertheless both Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan had given their all to great movies in the past, and we will always pay tribute to that; but THEY are now a shadow of their former selves. Also, what accent was Pierce Brosnan speaking with?, cos it got me confused for the most part if not that I watched with the movie subtitle.
