I don't think so. kanu was able to mobilize the youths because of his radical style, the sad truth is they wouldn't have followed a Mandela or Gandhi or someone who wasn't a fundamentalist.radical views with a touch of extremism always worked on the masses better than non fundamentalist movements,especially in developing countries . it would be almost impossible for any other person to preach such messages again after seeing what happened to kanu. even asari dokubo who was trying to re-emerge to lime light using pro biafra sentiments has decided it isn't worth it and decided to keep his mouth shut. if kanu should appear today( that is if he is able to) , it's most likely he would loose his followers because he would certainly not be able to preach the kind of message that the youths in SE (many of whom were waiting to vent their frustrations on the government) wants.the question is would they follow a moderate version of kanu? without his fiery views, opinions, bravado? these of course are just my opinions though. it would be interesting to find out how such an event plays out though.

Kanu isnt the issue here, the ideology is. What matters is if people accept the concept of Biafra and they do. A lot of people think that operation Python dance put a stop to the Biafran agitation, it did not. No one can defeat ideology with bullets.

Currently, IPOB is challenging its proscription as a terrorist organisation on more than 13 grounds.

The ADF has approched the high court to declare operation Python dance illegal. They have also taken the FG to the African court in Banjul.

Kanu also has his own case at the ECOWAS court, slated for February.

IPOB has a very good chance of overturning its proscription as one the 13 grounds is almost unbeatable.

Operation Python dance is most like to be declared illegal as other courts have in the past declared that the president has no power to use the Army to fight crime.

The effect of all this is that should all these court cases go IPOB's way, the governnent will not only well embarassed, they will have taken the Biafran struggle to the next level

The government of Nigeria fell into every trap Kanu set for them. Arresting Kanu made him a hero, python dance has made Kanu a matyr.
