Exactly what am saying bro, before you give your car to someone, make sure the driver has at least 2 credible guarantors and if the driver default, pick his guarantor up to look for him to face the consequences. Let the driver pay for every damages and lost. Not by claiming drivers will be serious once they pay upfront whereas, this rogue drivers are smarter than you.

I have run through your profile, you need a car.

I dont have a car to give @ the moment because I have given out what I have.

Get a security deposit of 40k and I will buy a car, I will fix any issue, I will register it, I will install a tracker, I will insure it and you will drive.

Is that too much to ask?

Hire purchase
installment plan is an arrangement whereby a customer acquires an asset by paying an initial installment (e.g. 40% of the total) and repays the other part of the cost of the asset over a period of time or term for a contract, in which a purchaser agrees to pay for goods in parts or a percentage over a number of months. Other analogous practices are described as closed-end leasing.

Real definition of hire purchase, partners in Nigeria are still considerate. grin grin grin

According to your logic, drivers with upfront deposit are good and serious ones. You will soon learn.

You beginning to sound like the driver who came to my office to harass me, if partners set conditions and you are not good with it, why not just stay away, and find someone else?

Or just quit Uber for good, stop this unnecessary threat (you will soon learn) what will I learn from you?

You actually have ur village people, ask them to buy a car for you, people who invest want return, without that they will quit.

Yes I need a car but not that desperate, I will rather go for a realistic offer which I know I can keep up to come rain come sun. Have been seeing your posts and have never request a car from you just because I know is not the best deal for me. So shift with you and your unrealistic offer abeg grin

I know you are daft from your first sentence, I don't know you and I don't wish to know you, but don't always make your stupidity so glaring to public that's all am saying.

Are you the first to invest in Uber as if security upfront is your ROI?
Why dangote and other trucks owners did not ask for security upfront from their driver?
Why banks and company did not ask for security payment from their drivers?
But all they asked in common is credible guarantors. Maybe because dangote and others did not invest? What do I know lipsrsealed

Bank drivers and others are being employed.... The partner has not employed you so you can't compare. It seems you have been going on about this all day and what you fail to realise is that a lot of partners are reading your comments and will have reservations about giving you their cars. I don't ask for deposits (although am seriously considering) but if a partner has a right to ask anything when it comes to their investment, it is your choice to walk away. My advice stop responding to every comment about deposit and face the main issue of getting a car...... All the best with your search my brother.

My brother am a partner. And I will defend others partners that are doing the rite thing. The thing about security deposit is to reduce risk. Me for example, all mine cars are tokunbo. I spend about nothing less than 100k at times to make it Uber ready. Mind u, the cars are tokunbo. Am trying to make life easy for the drivers. So are u now telling me that I don't have the rite to ask for a security deposit? This is a business not charity work. If drivers don't agree or want to agree with T/C no worries it is not by force

What am bringing to the table-My time, energy and life on the line.

Seems most of these partners don't really understand what drivers go through on the streets. If your car gets damaged, insurance will cover you. What if the driver gets 'damaged' or even dies...who covers that. I guess we're in the time of when material things, are worth more than human life. undecided

Tell that to the real working class industry with unrealistic targets that must be met. This industry some came out from while some still dey inside slaving their time, energy and life.

And who said partners don't put their time (duration to recoup after investing huge amounts in a market that isn't 100% certain), their energy (chasing drivers and thinking of ways to reduce certain costs), their life (u think it's only the driver that is worried about this)

The day every party starts seeing this as business (an offer made which u either Accept, Reject or Negotiate) to that possible best that will suit both parties.

If a partner decides to implement a security deposit - it's his property or don't u pay a caution fee when moving to a new apartment that u haven't destroyed anything.

It's a simple something jare

Second bold lines .... Maybe partners or the E-hailing apps should start insisting that drivers have insurance that covers them too.

Why argue the modalities in one direction? Does the driver know if the partner took out a loan or cleared out his bank account today invest?

In business, every one works to protect his / her own.
