Rohr officially signs new Super Eagles deal Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, has officially put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Rohr was appointed Super Eagles head Coach in August 2016 and has steered the team to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, winning four games and drawing one in a qualifying group that also had Zambia, African champions Cameroon and Algeria. His previous deal will run out in July 2018. He signed the new deal during the announcement of the NFF’s new partnership with Coca Cola in Lagos on Wednesday. Since Rohr took charge of the Super Eagles, he has recorded seven wins, drawn four and lost one game. NFF 1st Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, explained why Rohr deserved the extension. “He has done a very good job and when someone does a good job, he gets a reward. Very well done. Now his contract extends to 2020. Good. His stats as Super Eagles coach have been impressive so far since the Tanzania game (with Kelechi scoring that rocket) with 7wins, 4 draws and just one loss. He navigated this young but very talented side through the toughest African WC qualifiers group in history. He recently led the team to a heart warming victory over world class Argentina with Dybala, Di Maria, Banega, Otamendi, mascherano etc on show. He has got the Super Eagles playing as a dangerous counter attacking and swift super attacking unit. He had transformed the team into one that can score in a lots of different ways. All these and more are his stats with the Super Eagles led by Mikel Obi and we only pray he can keep up the good job and do even better for our football. P.S: Since his appointment the likes of Aiteo, Coca cola, one logistics company, and a few other private companies or mutinatioanls have thrown in their hats with the team as sponsors for all our national teams especially the Super Eagles. Congrats to him...but I fear for his future with the Super Eagles especially at the world cup.....  If Gernot Rohr can't find a capable No1 in the goal post to assure our defence, 2 reliable LB's (kick Echiejine out of Russia 2018 world cup flight  ), get a goal hungry No 9 with a goal conversion rate of at least 30%  , and 2 back up no 10's with skill and poise and that can stay free from injury (God please make Joel Obi abailable), we are doomed..... |
