Is it the President that grants licence for tv in Nigeria ?

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said the approval of the TV station was a confirmation of the president’s position on promoting free press and unhindered access to information.
Propaganda!! "Free press" in deed!

I don't see how it is the duty of a president to approve a TV licence. We haven't yet gotten our priorities right. Very sad.

shocked
With the 7% budget allocation while our counterparts in Africa are doing over 30%.

30% of what?

Sometimes you guys make vague statements.

I'm not saying our universities are well funded but 30% is not always greater than 7%.

It must be compared to a value.

Yarnvibes:
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday approved a television licence for the University of Lagos (UNILAG TV).

This was disclosed after a meeting with the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, and the Senior Special Assistant, Garba Shehu, at the Presidential Villa.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said the approval of the TV station was a confirmation of the president’s position on promoting free press and unhindered access to information.

Ogundipe said the TV station would enhance research-oriented education and ease communication within and outside the university campus.

“It is now on record that the present administration signed the first campus TV licence and we remain deeply grateful to the president.

“The university is a brand. We want the university to be the research hub in Africa, and we are working towards being among the best three in the entire continent,’’ he said.

Adesina, while congratulating the vice chancellor on the new development, said President Buhari was fully committed to improving the standard of education in the country.

If it takes a presidents approval to set up a TV station then any wonder we are developing a reverse speed? Something that can be approved at an agency level? God punish the hausa/fulani military govt for foistingbon us a constitution that was from day one unworkable and eventually bound to fail if not reworked

It must be compared to a value.
If you are checking value, you must be learner. How do we then calculate it's effect on citizenry.

Take for instance, Nigeria's GDP is way higher than that of Ghana but the latter's Per capital income is higher than the former. What this means is that the more the population, the harder the citizens bite the national cake.
