Leo is going to be a yr old on the 27th of this month. He is a very intelligent dog with excess energy, always pulling the leash whenever we go for walks thou his scared of bigger and older dogs, his hunting drive is so high cuz he kills animals such as hen, snakes, rats, lizards and birds.
Leo greets every member of the family and easily recognises us even after long months away from home. He obeys commands such as sit down and get inside.
Despite, all i want to neuter/castrate him cuz i' av got a new female dog(a slant gsd) and they both love each other so much that each time leo is let loosed from his cage, he goes to lick her face before heading for the kitchen and each time she's loosed she goes to his cage, licks his face and runs off to play. Thou i have not let both out of their cage at same time cuz i am scared leo might injure her during a play or should a fight result. (shes just 2months plus).


The reason i want to castrate leo is cuz i dont want him getting black pregnant at an untimely age.

Isnt there another way of preventing unwanted pregnancy in dogs than cutting off the balls?

I mean, it sounds so mean and inhuman, especially now the dog is grown up; the pains will be unbearable, the heartbreak will ruin that poor dog. They are innocent teenage dogs and are probably not even thinking of fvcking.

Cant you enroll the dog into some classes where they teach safe-sex? Or get condoms for it or something? Or better still, get postinor2 for the gsd whenever she is up to age.

I can't imagine you cutting off a dog's balls just because you don't want it to pregnant another dog, which of course you can prevent easily.

Castrating a dog means a whole lot to the dog. You're changing it's life. You could build rage in his life. I'll advice you to just ask good and honest breeders how they keep their different breeds from crossing one another at their kennels. Cos you could create a very very aggressive dog from castration. The dog can always be on para mode. So just ask good breeders for a better solution.

It's not 100% true. It could make it more aggressive actually. If your reason for wanting to neuter is simply because of the younger one, I'll advice you see a breeder and ask them how they stop their breed x from crossing breed y. You sef look am now how you go feel if I commot your balls.

Both dogs are german shepard thou. Just that i dont want to cross them together so they wont produce offspring with the fawn colour.

Please any breeder in the forum with an advice.

Othello this shouldn't be a cause of concern to u for now. Black can't get pregnant for now till roughly 6months from now. When she comes on heat you would see noticeable drops of blood. All u need to do is cage either one of them down and release the other. Never keep them both together throughout the heat cycle. Just google German Shepherd heat cycle, and u will b better informed on how to follow up her heat cycle. Pls black looks excellent, don't mate her during her first heat cycle, so that she reach her full growth potential.
