Kingsway Ibadan: Before and After

Both pictures are side views of Kingsway Ibadan. The first depicts the building in its present dilapidated form (2018). The second shows the building in 1950 - picture is credited to Google.

These pictures speak in succinct form how much progress Nigeria has made in its national life.

The present state of the Kingsway building aptly depicts the state of Nigeria - a nation on decline with decaying infrastructures and abandoned projects.

Constituted Authority! Where art thou?

Mr Koseleri of Africa... Another Strike ongoing in Ibadan at the moment.

APC!! See your governors disgracing your Party up and down.

These governors are big thieves ooo... We don't know how much they receive as salaries, they don't tell the masses how funds are being spent. No agency investigates their Private accounts.

Immunity is what they enjoy while Mr Buhari believes we don't need restructuring...

Oh! Nigeria My Dear Country

They should sell it off to those who can make the best use of it.

They had the best meat pie down west then, then when Osun was created, presidential hotel had the same pie taste. Christmas was always fun at Kingsway back then used to come all the way from OYO township if we decide not to celebrate at LAMBAMBA in Oyo.

Funny. So you would say shopping malls are on decline just because a particular store isn't running again? Wrong analogy! We have far better malls and stores now....

We need help. I think it will be best if our colonial masters return to re-colonise us.

This is shameful

Instead of allowing the building to rot away, why can't they(govt) give it out on lease just to keep it running and maintained

Our govt can only build, to maintain is always a problem for them.

Coordinate yourself and type properly. If your mediocre fathers could not construct a mall 50 years ago, does it mean you too should not be able to construct a single paragraph in proper English?

Actually you have a point just like Mr Biggs first came and now fading off. But what stops us from maintaining our assets? I can remember trans-wonderland in Ibadan back then, it was great even people used to come all the way from Lagos on Saturdays and Sundays. But now.......................

I can see some wawa Jews peeping into this thread..

Those fan yogo and gala hawkers make fun of Ibadan's brown roofs because they have no history. They fail to realize that as at the time those houses with brown roofs were being built, their fathers were still living in trees.

In your mind, you have said something sensible abi
Like the same thing cannot be said about any other place in the country

What was destroyed during the civil war?

Even before the civil war, what was in the East?
Before the colonialists came, what was in the East?
What monuments or landmarks are on record to have come from the East?
What prominent city did their ancestors build in the East?
