I stand with him tho. Power is for the youths, yes but it isn't going to be given to us just because we are youths. We need to come together , probably form a political party and actually contest or else , we will just keep saying the 'future is ours' until the future passes us by. Also , our generation needs to learn that criticism can be done without insults. Infact when you add insults to criticism , there is a high probability that you won't achieve what you set out to achieve because the person stops listening to the point and concentrates on the insults .

Exactly my view..... We shld all jst start participating in politics to make a difference not coming on social media to jst talk n talk ...years to come the same set of pple will still be ruling us..so who's doing who huh

My fellow reasonable youths in nairaland,Media cows re nt involved o...After reading this kind of statement from a 'supposed' national leader...if they are not ready to hand over,y don't we over throw them and collect our mandate...it is time we wake up 4rm our dream and face the reality...these old cargos re nt ready to succumb...what can we do to stop them from ruining our chances?

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said insulting leaders on social media will not change how things are in Nigeria.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, the governor advised youth who wish to chase old people from power to join a party and participate in the process.

He said, ”Young people think insulting leaders on social media will change the way things are in Nigeria.

”No one would hand over the mantle of leadership to you simply because you’re young.

”If you want to chase “old people” from positions of power, you must join a party and participate in the process no matter how bad, dirty and dangerous you think it is.”

very good rufai.dese youths insulting d leaders won't even vote for a fellow youth if he contests. dey think dat leadership is given on a platter.when ikemba contested in 2003,how many of my Igbo brodas voted for him?instead we foolishly voted massively for a Yoruba man but after,we will be shouting upandan of being marginalized. same thing is happening among our youths who thinks dat leadership is gotten by attacking every politician on d internet without participation. Yul edochie didn't get up to 5k votes in anambra yet,youths make up more dan 50%of d state population. if a youth even has d courage to challenge for d presidency now, it's still fellow youths dat will online to laugh at d person and will advise him to save his money

It's Sad because the man is actually Right.. and believe me this is a very sensitive Topic but just look at the comments on here, it Just goes to show you that Nigerians actually get what they deserve. What young people in Nigeria dont understand is ....no one is given power, rather power is taken

All these old men we are complaining about where bold and took power when they were young and have held on to it
The youth need to understand that they are more in number, they need to join the movement and make things happen....join or form their own political party.....ignore the bribes and stand for what is right, take hold of their birthright......ITS THE ONLY WAY

The youth should deploy the 'Godswill Akpabio method 'of chasing old people away. What is the "Godswill Akpabio method?"

Between 2007 to 2015, thousands of Akwa Ibom people, mostly old men, were killed in the state. A Paramount Ruler was killed. Lecturers, musicians, doctors, retired military officers were routinely slaughtered. Several deputy governors even resigned and ran away, nobody was spared. A former governor ran away from the state for the 8 years, otherwise they would have been killed. They would only make statements from far away Lagos.

Opposition candidates were not even allowed to announce their interest to run for governor during Akpabio's reign. If you wanted to compete against Akpabio, you go to Calabar, Cross River State to campaign to be governor of Akwa Ibom.

You were not allowed to complain during Akpabio!

Those who escaped Akpabio's hack politics were the ones who ran away from the state. The rest became houseboys to Akpabio. Former senators, Air Force Chief, ministers, military administrators all succumbed.

Infact as I write this there is a list going around on the internet that show all the victims that were slaughtered and survivors. Today, Akwa Ibom State is quiet for Udom Emmanuel because those who'd dare to oppose were all killed during Akpabio governorship.

Godswill Akpabio was the first youth to govern Akwa Ibom. So, if the youth wants to take over they must 'clean house' using Godswill Akpabio's method. Complaining on the internet just won't cut it!
