What are some of the other popular trending GIS jobs?

GIS programming is a big one. But be careful about listing Python experience on your resume if you don’t want a programming job.

Webmap development, geostatistics, remote sensing, computer-aided design are other in-demand skills.

Think of GIS as more of a tool than a field in itself

GIS + programming = job
GIS + forestry = job
GIS + web development = job
GIS + statistics = job
GIS + geology = job
GIS +Civil Engineering =Job
GI5+Public Health =job
GIS+mathematics =job
GIS +Surveying =job
GIS +Physics =job
GIS +Elect=job
GIS+Geography =job
GIS+metrology=job
GIS+Urban planning =job
GIS +demography =job
GIS+Fishery=Job
GIS +Management =Job
GIS +Hospitality =Job
GIS +Sociology =Job

A varied skill set serves you well. Adapt to technology and software change. Don’t ever stop training and don’t ever stop looking for a challenge.

cheesy I am all ears. Pls sir kindly share your experience
with us. I mean from being an Applied Mathematician to a GIS analyst. Thanks

The following organization functional GIS lab:
1..Federal Capital Development Administration
2..NCC
3..NGSA
4.NIMET
5.Nigeria Army
6.UI,OAU,FUTA,ABU
7.NBS etc

Please GIS and Remote Sensing is not restricted to Geography or Geographers alone.. Please stop that impression...

When you have this knowledge to compliment your GIS expertise, you can climb higher than any other candidate.

No questions asked.

Most GIS functions were derived from mathematical laws

Hello everyone, I'm a final year student of geoinformatics department working on gis related research work for my final year research project.
I'm so glad I came across this thread.
Let's all make this thread a success n use it to enlighten people more about this great tool called GIS.
Re: Thread For Geographic Information System (GIS) Analysts by Nobody: 5:57pm On Jan 20, 2018
NTRODUCTION
Spatial analysis is the process of using a map and GIS data to solve problems. When you look at a map, you might notice patterns or clusters in the map that can lead you to make quick decisions about data. When doing analysis with GIS, you turn your data into information that can help you understand that data better and make more informed decisions. Performing a site selection is an example of using spatial analysis to solve problems. Site selection requires you to use a set of guidelines (criteria) to choose an optimal location for something (like a parking lot, a park, or an office building, for example). This course will teach you how to guide and perform your analysis using GIS.

The geographic approach
It is important to have a consistent method for applying GIS software to answer questions and solve spatial problems. The geographic approach offers a new way of thinking and problem solving that integrates geographic information into how people understand and manage the world around them. The steps of the geographic approach can be applied to any spatial problem.

Being a student of Urban and and regional planning back in school,we were mandated to be taught GIS application in planning,a supposed practical course that my lecturer turned to full time theory.I can never forget what I went through in school because of our GIS lecturer.I did GIS course three times ,I narrowly graduated with 2:1 becs of that meehn......Since then I have hated GIS but bro with this thread ,I want to give it a trial again, I hope I will be able to learn something before I end my Nysc in april....I need to prove my GIS lecturer wrong.

Nice thread, i'm a Geographer with ArcGIS compliance, i organized the first and probably the only GIS training that has tsken place in Owerri caled Mega-tech Training. Please NOTE that GIS in highly INTERDISCIPLINARY, its application knows no bounds.
Before i got job, hunger cudnt finish me bicos i was doing maps for project students and lecturers in universities and was making money more than the so called employed..

Currently In an Agricultural Research Institute where i work, i did a little elementary work for them on GIS application on Agriculture, and it gained serious attention.

Embrace GIS today...

Learn GIS today,(sorry i might not be available to teach)..
But i am glad trainers are in this thread..

However contact me for partnership in any project and we roll..
I have GPS, ArcGIS 10.1, gas monitors, meteorological instrument at my disposal...

I repeat, get trained in GIS today and enhance your employability either of self basis or with a meaningful employer... Ur paper qualifications only is not enough.. I'm a living witness...
Weda u did animal science oh, or engineering oh, or even medcine oh, or Economics oh, u need GIS.

My area of specialization in the GIS and Remote sensing world is in the agricultural aspects.

Few amongst the projects have done are , Weed mapping, Erosion hotspots mapping, Mapping of vegetation using NDVI, watershed delineation,Slope mapping e.t.c.

I use Arcmap 10.5 and get my remotesensed data s from NASA USGS.
