If the constitution of Nigeria can grant the Presideent, vice president, governor and even the deputy governor of a state immunity then why not the senate president who is the number 3 man in the country.

Ordinary ministers and top functionaries are also immune from prosecution by the Federal Government.

No
Lawmaking functions can go on in his absence or indeed the absence of any senator
After all on a good day, when senate is in session, you see hundreds of empty seats

Presidential work can also go on in the president's absence... At least we saw that in Buharis absence.

Ministers are not immune from prosecution, so get facts right.

The senate president was voted by a constituent just like any other "sinator" out there and not the entire country nor an entire state that voted for him.

We can say he's just first among equals in the senate which is why he can't be granted immunity else other senators are entitled to it.

Being a number three man in the federal system is just a privilege for political reasons which ordinarily the CJN should have been.

Ministers are not immune from prosecution constitutionally but they can be shielded from prosecution by their principal who is the president.

If the SP is just first among equals in the hallowed chamber, then the constitution must prevent him from acting as president if the president and his vice cannot discharge their duties.

Even a bloody civilian with no political office can be shielded from prosecution as far as he has coins.

Like i said earlier on, the privilege position is a political strategy for all ruling parties so they don't get scheme out of government...or have you seen an opposition senate president before in Nigeria?

The CJN is apolitical which is why he can't assume the number 3 position.
