Breaking: Uniabuja NASU Vows To Continue Strike by marryjesus: 4:01am On Jan 30, 2018
The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Abuja Chapter has vowed not to suspend the ongoing strike action until their demands are met. Recall that the Union embarked on a nationwide strike on December 4th, 2017 over federal government failure to implement the 2009 agreement and since then are yet to resolve the issue. The branch chairman of NASU, University of Abuja, Mr Yakubu Simon said in Abuja yesterday said, the refusal of government in paying the allowances agreed upon, especially, the earn allowance is the most pressing issue that prompted the strike. Simon said the Union has some percentage that is left with the government. “Earlier on they said 28 per cent so when they send in N23 billion to invest in state target of ASUU academic earn allowance which is not supposed to be so, the payment did not favour us. “All of us submitted our competition on this earns allowance and in the course they went and give the payment in favour of ASUU, that is why our national called that we should embark on immediate and indefinite strike after communicating the federal government. “So our strike is still on, last week we had meeting in town and they briefed us how far they have gone with the federal government.”

This strike is really damaging to me especially. angry
This strike has affected my collection of transcript and will made me lose a chance in Sweden for a full tuition Swedish scholarship for studies.
Its really frustrating and I have even paid the application fee of 900 Swedish krone which is non refundable and dateline is 1st February 2018 for the opportunity.

So so sad.
I had an offer of admission from a foreign university, but i can't take it because my Nigerian University won't validate my certificates.
Why? NASU is in strike.
So shameful of a nation.

You have to see the mail I received from the school abroad. They just lambasted our university system.

the blame should be squarely on govt that are playing hide and seek with our education. I don't blame them, most of them, their children are in private universities and also studying abroad, thats why.

I received a scholarship offer from Canadian University for PhD but I can't get my Masters degree transcript because of this useless strike. The deadline is 1st February 2018, only God will judge our wicked leaders.

Application for PTDF scholarship is ongoing and I can't get my statement of result because of this strike.

Obtain a progressive transcript from your department duely signed by your HOD , any foreign University should consider you with that pending when your official transcript is out.

They know the full details of the strike self. They told me they have a rule to follow which is no transcript no admission cos I uploaded my certificate and the answer is we need your transcript to complete your application.
Every other thing is uploaded and still no show. Its sad man.

I have the transcript, signed, notorized and all. But the school has a process of verifying results.
Juts a mail from the school's registrar's office usually suffices, I got in touch with my school and i am told nothing can be done until strike is called off.

Did you have a student copy of your transcript? I got in contact with the admission office and I was told to upload the student copy of my transcript which I have done, but the transcript still need to be verified b4 March.
I am about to pay my application fee but my prayer is that this strike should not be extended to March because if it is extended to March my result will not be verified by my institution which means that I may not offer me admission because of the unverified transcript.

Unfortunately, I don't have the student copy. I only have the original certificate from the University.
