Alhassan Ado Doguwa Faces Sanction Over Comments On Electoral Act by Islie(op): 6:38am On Jan 31, 2018
By Musa Abdullahi Krish

The Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, is facing sanction from his colleagues over his comments on the last week amendments to the Electoral Act, 2010 done by the House.

Doguwa told Daily Trust on Monday that he never supported the amendments and that they were meant to target President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also described the amendments as “mischievous” and that they would not stand, calling on Buhari not to assent to the bill when presented to him.

However, it was gathered that his colleagues were angered by his comments, particularly as a ranking member who is also part of the House leadership.

It was learnt that a motion would be raised on the floor of the House today to address the matter, with the likelihood of sanctions to be meted out against the Kano lawmaker.

Although the gravity of the sanctions could not be ascertained, sources said the lawmakers were “very, very angry with him.”

They want theirs first so they can hold the president to ransom...laffing in ibibio.

How is this beneficial to us? Are they amending the act because of Buhari or to better strengthen the act?

They should remember when Buhari will not be there tomorrow, will they still want to hold to that amended act so they can decide the rubber stamp they want?

The amendment going on with the electoral act is commendable but the timing is wrong.
You don't just wake up to amend the law after INEC released the timetable for the 2019 general elections, that obviously is being reactive. Yes the content is good but why wait till a year before the elections?

No more decorum, no more regard for order and administrative hierarchy, ethnocentric Fulani-Hausa privileges festering unabated, subordinates ridiculously deek riding, public servants are now emboldened in their partisanship. This government has destroyed democratic principles, ordeliness, and bureaucratic gains made since 1999.

He came not by merit but on the wings of sak. You see, he doesn't know his right. He's like the proverbial madman that identify a snake bit by the type of pain he feels. I weep for Nigeria.
