I just got a message via LinkedIn for an IT HelpDesk position asking me if am interested or can recommend anyone. Please if you are in IT and have landed PM me.

Its important for us to update our LinkedIn profiles. A lot of recruiters and companies search LinkedIn for people to fill up their open positions.

TIPS: Complete your profile, include all your skill set and certifications. Very important: change your location to the area in Canada you live or plan to settle and also make your profile available to Canadian hires. Upgrade to LinkedIn premium, the first month is free and you can opt out anytime.

Cheers

Congratulations Fellow.
Please I have been having issues getting a number on freetone and I need help. It kept on telling m my card(GTBank and Stanbic MasterCard) is not correct when trying to make payment. I have done this more than 4times and it kept on giving me the same response.

Please help your brother.

Thanks.

Hello house, been silently following the thread. So I got PPR last year and did soft landing because I sort of wanted to get a job or at least be in the process of getting one before I move. I got the freetone app, included the number on my CV and applied for jobs. More recently, I started to contact talent attraction managers of the companies I was interested in on LinkedIn, it was hard for me to do but I decided to anyway since the worst I'll get is a "NO". Some didn't respond and I would send reminders after a week or two and I started getting positive replies, emails, phone interviews and video interviews. Summary is i just got a job in Canada right here in Nigeria. Although the job required someone with a CPA designation, i managed to convince them that i had ICAN which would make

Hello, vcole. Have been following your posts for a while now. Trying to make up my mind on whether to move or not. Please, can you explain the easiest way for an aspiring immigrant like me to practise medicine in Canada and the costs involved? Haven't seen a detailed explanation of that since I started following. Will appreciate. Thanks
Hello Vcole, I sincerely appreciate the work you guys have been doing here.I just completed my masters and i have been freelancing all this while , my area of expertise is data analytics ( I did statistics at both UG and PG). Can you please guide an aspiring immigrant like me on the easiest path to migrate to Canada and the costs involved? Any link to a webpage will be appreciated. I also haven't seen a detailed explanation regarding that yet.Thank you in advance.

Hi, I used Access bank's visacard and it worked perfectly. I think I had to link the card to my google account cos I was charged an amount which was later reversed perhaps just to check that the card is funded, not sure.

@dadR, thanks for the good wishes. I used a Canadian address on my CV (where I lived during my soft landing).

@TEECANN why are you not pursuing an accounting profession especially since you have obtained the highly elusive CPA designation? Which field is more lucrative for an accountant and what certifications are you pursuing. Please provide more insight.

I guess you have been answered by @Aig84

But in addition, accounting filed is lucrative to the best of my research, however, you need to know which sub-area of accounting you want to pursue (e.g, AML investigations, audit, retail accounting, compliance etc) Choosing whichever, requires you look deeply into your passion, your prior experience, totality of your education and what you want to do going forward in a new "working" country grin

In my own case, the bit of my research shows that what I want to do in the short to medium term does not strictly require the CPA designation like that like that again. I only need to horn my skills, if I can, I'll try to get a major designation in the sub-field that I'm interested in and when I land, I'll take a diploma or certificate in Business in one of the colleges/universities and I'm sure with that and God, I can progress comfortably well!

It will all end in praise IJN!

PS: I am a lady. No offense taken

Maam, my bad! cheesy

we shall testify at the end of this process IJN!

I wrote to CPA Ontario on a similar matter seeking for deferral; yet to receive their response email though.

Have you initiated the process with CPA at all (send your transcripts, pay registration fees, etc) or you re about to?

What's your strategy in achieving your career goal in Canny. You need to have one (all of these our seniors here have one which they kept revising and review frequently in the light of better and further information and knowledge grin) Dont just rush into wanting to challenge the CPA exams because you want to be an accountant in Canada- I made that mistake, you shouldn't!! thankfully, I still had time to retrace my steps, though I lost money in the process. (Reach me, lets talk)

It seems you missed the last episode on this forum. Rainzoe is not sure whether she will end up relocating or not so I guess she may not be able to answer most of these questions right now. You may want to read her posts.

What do you mean by 'challenging CPA exams'? does that mean writing exams after getting some exemptions or something?

Hello Rainazoe, my membership is with CPA British Columbia, that was the only province then that accepted members outside Canada, it's only recently that I learnt Ontario does the same.

Yes, it means writing the papers of the Institute to qualify for the designation.

It is in a manner of writing/speaking common and known with the CPA Institute (if you read their website often, you will be used to the term)

Which of the provincial CPAs if I may ask? and are you a full CPA or you are just registered to complete the exams to become a full CPA?

Paying 600 CAD every year for the last 3 years is quite some commitment on your part!!

To even think that you re not yet in Canada- earning dollars- to fuel the membership? shocked shocked That's some "wawawuuuu" here! grin grin

Why don't you consider writing them explaining your current situation and request for an exception- whether partial or full- pending the time you'll land as a permanent resident. My people say "At all, at all, na im bad pass" grin grin

My membership is with CPA British Columbia. I hurriedly applied for membership in 2015 because there was a rumour that they (CPA) will not renew the MRA with ACCA and the rigors of writing all those exams to gain the same membership was not what I wanted to ever face.

Paying that annual membership every year and not using it is not funny, but I had to cos I have plans to move to Canny soon.

I don't think there is an avenue for paying partial fees except one is out of job for a prolonged time or sth sth... I don't remember those factors.
