There is tension in Benue State Commissioner following the gruesome killing of seven Fulanis who were lynched and burnt by irate youths in Gboko area of Benue State on Wednesday (yesterday). Multiple reports have it that soldiers have been deployed today from Abuja to Gboko, Benue State after crisis.

The victims were said to be travelling either to Okene in Kogi State or Taraba State when criminals attacked, killed and burnt them to ashes.

Troops have currently stationed themselves in the region in order to prevent any reprisal attack.

some people on this forum shaa, did you guys care to reason that the soldiers might be for the security of Gboko people considering that those fulani herdsmen will want to plan reprisal attack on Tiv people sooner or later. i think Gboko people stand to benefit more. now you guys are heating up everywhere with sentiments.

Stop wasting your time on programmed robots. Most of them campaign with the wrong points. I don't support buhari govt, but there is nothing wrong with military deployment at this moment. If military is not deployed following the recent killing and burning of fulani men, what will befall that community in few days is very predictable.

The police had been there. Military troops deployment was decided by senate resolution or VP committee, one of the two after the police was deployed.

That would likely be worse. If the South become self sufficient in the cattle production, they would have crippled the business of the Fulani's and they would not accept it without a fight. When Fulani herdsmen killed people in Benue,the Nigerian Army said that why they were not deployed was because,the police was not 'overwhelmed' ,and that there is a process.

But during the illegal operation python dance that killed unarmed protesters,there was no process.

Sending soldiers is still a reactive response to maybe prevent immediate retaliation. Solution: State Assemblies should urgently make acts to create legal street/community policing. It's no use blaming incompetent democratically inept Buhari.

What happened to the 'laid down rules' that must be followed before the army could be deployed? Is it no longer a police matter? Or have the police said that they're overwhelmed by the crisis?
