To start with, Optometry is a six years serious university programme with extra one year internship before NYSC.
Optometrist graduate with OD certificate ( Doctor of Optometry)
Secondly Teaching is a profession.

A GP or Ophthalmologist doesn't do what an Optometric Physician does and An Optometrist doesn't do what they do. If you don't know about a profession, do yourself a favour and Google, don't be myopic. Eyecare/medical profession or being a Doctor isn't only about theatres and surgeries. We have other branches like orthokeratology, low vision and vision therapy were Optometrists show their expertise. Be guided .

I smile at your ignorance..... an optometrist is a doctor who specializes in primary eye care. Just as a denist is an oral doctor. Just that every body has their own specialty. for an optometrist he has the title (O.D) meaning optometry doctor and a dentist (D.D)....... they offered physiology,pathology and pharmacology just like any other doctor before they specialized...... an optometrist is not a dispensing optician.
