Fashola has nothing to do with AZura please. AZura is a private project started in 2013 and was already more than 60% completed by 2015. If there is any politician that should be given credit for AZura, it is Governor Obaseki and maybe Oshiomhole to some extent.

Let me explain. AZura raised $1billion to build the power plant in 2012. The company that was the lead facilitator for the finance is Afrinvest. Afrinvest belongs to Governor Obaseki. All this happened 4 years before he became governor.
Now he is governor, he is building the N200 billion Benin Industrial Park in the same location as AZura and the goal is for AZura to provide the industries at the park with with 24 hr electricity. He is also building Gelegele seaport where the products manufactured at the park would shipped out to the rest of the world.

This is the guy that should get the credit if any politician should. It’s an entirely private project.

It’s like saying The minister of petroleum should take the credit for Dangote’s refinery.

He is actually correct. The plant is made up of 3 turbines each capable of producing 152MW which totals 456MW. One of the turbines was live in December, and the second is set to be test run and hooked up to the national grid this month.

The funny thing is that just next door is the 400MW NIPP facility with 4 turbines each capable of producing 100MW, but only one turbine has been running at b/w 60-94MW. The other 3 are functional but for some reasons are always shut down. Occasionally 2 of the turbines come on stream simultaneously but then it’s only for a short while. If both of these plants can work at full capacity, that will account for almost 1000MW of power from Edo state alone.

If you like mediocre, i don't. Our government projects are many times mediocre at their best effort when completed. As for private efforts, they work with the guidelines they are given and with the infrastructure they have to work around.

Almost everything in Nigeria is mediocre, leadership on many levels and many fields are mediocre; graduates from our universities in different fields are mediocre; following the religion or traditions we have chosen over growth and technology is mediocre; They or we say are giant of Africa, but we are mediocre at it; Our society is mediocre. Infrastructure, everything. Guy abeg leave me o, my blood dey boil for Africa's mass stupidity and ignorance. By 2030, more than 80% of Nigeria might still be in the dark if the oyibos don't come up with technology to give us light from their side. By 2050, Nigeria will still be shouting up NEPA.

Our people die going to Europe just to see how life is, just to see how an organized society functions. It is so organized that it accommodates others even though it was tailored for Europeans. If you are going to proclaim any project mediocre, doomed to fail, environmentally unsound, common sense and sane logic dictate that you show us your own on the ground assessment, detailing soil and environmental samples, quality of tools and equipment uses, quality and knowledge of hired manpower from engineers to pipe fitters.

The fact that this is a private investments totaling hundreds of millions of dollars mean for the folks involved to secure funding from international lenders, they must have submitted credible EIA reports, sound operational forecast and iron clad insurance to guarantee their investments
