Nigeriadondie:Please get your facts correct. Rather, the gains and advances recorded against Boko Haram during the tail end of Jonathan's era was due to the huge assistance that Nigeria got from Chad, Niger and Cameroun under the ECOWAS agenda that was spearheaded by former President of Ghana. It has been said that Buhari did not continue with the arrangement (because of financial obligations) so the other countries had to pull out. I think Buhari is also trying to impress Nigerians because of the 2019 elections at the corner. |

mikeapollo:Bro get your facts correct apart from Benin Republic and Niger, all the other francophone countries of Chad and Cameroon have always been hostile to Nigeria. Most of the attacks by Boko haram were from their territories. Infact Chad was accused of not only harbouring them but also training and equipping them. A friend of mine in the Army told me that serving in the north at d time told me that they would chase the insurgents who would run into Chad but they the army could not go further. Yet Chadian border guards or gerdarmes would even be looking at them doing nothing. It was in 2015 when Chad which is a landlocked country had its ecomomy badly affected as Nigeria is a vital trade route that they decided to help. It was then that they saw Boko haram as a menace. Don’t forget that Chad and Nigeria fought a very fierce but short war in which this same PMB was the commmander of the 3rd Armoured Division that eventually drove away the Chadian invaders and the current president Idris Deby was in power then and still is now. The grudge is still there and that defeat made Chad completely revamp, modernize and equip its military. Now I can tell you that Chad would be no easy match for Nigeria in any war now. Infact the Chadians with ease helped Nigerian troops recapture Gamboru Ngala with over 100 Boko Haram dead. This was sonsignificant because Gamboru Ngala had been a graveyard for Nigerian troops. Infact, for Nigeria it was a dead-end. They also helped recaptured Marte but when they left the Nigerian troop could not even hold the town and so BH slipped in again. In the war against armed groups in Mali, the French military heavily relied on the Chadians to win that war. |

Nigeriadondie:Let u stop the usual conspiracy theories. No country would allow its soldiers to die for another country if that other country is not willing to show some appreciation and/or compensate potential victims. Cameroun, Chad and Niger have dealt Boko Haram much deadlier blows than Nigeria during the ECOWAS joint military operation towards the end of Jonathan's tenure. If you then had a new president who refused/failed to continue with the security arrangement, what do you expect from the other countries? They would not die for Nigeria for nothing! So now, your new president is trying to go back to the former arrangement after he had realized that the BH guys are not as easy as he estimated! We should stop pointing fingers at any Francophone countries. We all know how bad and reckless Nigeria has been for some years now? Or do we blame Francophone countries for the poor funding and morale of Nigerian armed forces? |

DaAwesome1:you still betray your lack of modern combat skills. Fighting terrorists isn't about dressing in camo and running after them with AKs. It's purely intelligence gathering, tactical ability, discipline and liaising with the local communities. All these is what the Nigerian army lacks 100%. Like their police counterparts, they solve a problem with the simplest and easiest of approaches. Nigeria police looking for a murder suspect: ( arrests everyone at the murder scene including relatives and passersby) Nigeria Army fighting insurgents and terrorists ( burn every building within the proximity and arrest every youth or middle aged man in sight. Nigeria police looking for yahoo boys ( every young dude dressing flashy with an iPhone is a prime suspect) This is the modus operandi of our illiterate police and army. Shame. |

DriveByKiller:nigerian army was once considered the best in peacekeeping in africa. it had enough hardened nd combat tested soldiers but the 2009 boko haram attacks showed its weakness in fighting a different kind of warfare. corruption also killed it so much it almost made it inefficent . but since 2014 the army has adapted nd won back territories |

A country so useless as Nigeria that failed to realize that were are surrounded by enemies. Cameroon has, is and will never be an ally. Apart from Niger, both Chad and Cameroon where so comfortable with the Boko Haram issue as long as they were not hurt. Infact, boko haram used the territories to launch attacks on Nigeria. It was when they were becoming affected in terms of security and economy especially as Nigeria is a very important trade route that they now became concerned.
