I have this very important question to ask please,
I've been to three interviews where the HRs asked me for my facebook and instagram addresses.
What do they really need those for?
Is it right to monitor someone's social media life before you hire the person?
Please whats your thought on this?

They want to see the kind of things you post online because most people post nonsense and senseless things out of the abundance of their poor thinking mind...they wanna see the kind of friends you keep the kind of pictures you upload and the kind of thoughts that pours out of your mindset

I like that...except you are living a double standard' life that is when you should be afraid. Social media, indoor media, bathroom media or whatever media that is named should portray your real self. I can't for the sake of sanity hire a slay queen who post half naked pics on facebook as a secretary in my office. HOElyghost fire!!

Absolutely. This is why people, especially the redundant ones on NL, should be civil when posting on social media.

Employers want to know who they are hiring. Your social media personality gives them an insight into who you are. For instance, no employer wants to hire a troublesome individual. So, if you're always trolling online, this could come back to haunt you when you need 'that job' badly.

There are some roles that need some specific characters/lifestyles. Social media is one of the ways to find out.

I think it is wrong for them to ask. It is your privacy but they could go online and search you up. In that case block your fb and Inst to outside of your network.

The want to know if you have good moral..

Your post and pictures on social media tells it all.



Imagine you employing a slayqueen who post after sex pictures and caption it " Nothing feels good as being touch by a nigga who screw your wet hole"

Social media tells a lot about a person when he/she believes that nobody is watching seriously. It blows the cover off all kinds of "packaging". People should move with time and expect such practice in this 21st Century.

Why would an employer hire a prospective employee who goes about picking fights with strangers on social media? Such act tells a lot than the employee would be willing to give away in an interview.

It's not out of place, every prospective employer wants best in and for his or her organization which employees are not exempted. What does it mean, in your everyday doings apply decorum. There's a saying that if you do not understand a person, check his friends.

No need.

If you have what it takes like the former EFCC handler...why not go full blast on SM. They will hire you quickly.

If i happen to meet these type of people...i will give them all my SM handle and they will see how i blast people. It will make them not to joke with me if they eventually hire me

Well, social media is porous to anything. Most times I mind what I post online. Personally, I hate Instagram so I said I will never register there because when I saw activities on IG through my friends phone, I said its not necessary for me, probably meant for entertainers. Even as we type on NL, HRs are here reading...lol let just be careful online though. But seriously speaking am of the opinion that its not necessary to ask for Social Media ID.

Employers are different from one another. What one has as hiring process might differs from others, this is because hiring process is not cast on the stone.

You should even be happy they asked you.
The last place I worked, before my boss recruit anybody, he will go to Facebook and search with their phone numbers or names, and even Google search without the employees even knowing.

This one they asked, you can even hurriedly delete those items are not too good enough..

What about people like us that don't use social networks, the only one I use is LinkedIn.

Sometimes it's a bonus for you.
For example, a firm that's interested in hiring a marketer may check through his social media accounts to measure his social influence.
They wouldn't want to hire someone who just 40 friends on facebook, and barely gets 10 likes on his posts. It shows he cannot influence people easily.

My social media handles my privacy. is because we lack self worth that's why we tend to be subservient to all form of rubbish as interview in this country.

If you ask me that I tell you I can't give you. if you want to look me up you have my name, go on Google to look up my name but no way I'm letting up my handle for you. .

It is really crucial that they ask. Some people live their lives on SM like they are accountable to no one. It makes the interviewers know who they are really dealing with not the meek and humble person they see at the interview.

I read how one guy wrote on twitter that he could never wake up early no matter what. Off course it came back to bite him when they requested his SM handles at an interview.
