They expect miracles where critical thinking is necessary thus breeding intellectual laziness, mental degradation and abysmal application of learned principles. I am aware that over the years Nigerian youths have proven themselves and earned accolades around the world in various fields 'Bigbrother' is such flimsy excuse for not giving youth a chance.

Yes, you are very right, naija youths are just bunch of unserious elements but one thing I want to let the writer know in clear terms is that,

1.,The problem of the country is not about the youths, its about everyone, it's not only youths that sells their votes, not all the old are rich, Nigerians are generally docile, they don't know how to speak up in the face of oppression, they rather pray to God to help them.
Check your work place, pressure groups, you will see that greed, lies, corruption is the other of the day. Check those labor unions, and you know that the leaders are just using them to bargain for themselves, go to churches and u see how monies are been mismanaged .. It's not about the youths, it's general

2. Leadership does not have anything to do with age, buhari is not failing because he's old, he's failing because he's senseless and retarded.
There are lots of poor young leaders, while there are very good old Leaders.
Not too young to run is not to ceed leadership to youths automatically but to allow youths have equal opportunities like the old, anybody who is competent should win and make the country a better place.

3. Show biz is a very serious business everywhere, There is a state in America that generates most of their income from entertainment, everybody will not be leaders, everybody cannot be politicians, if we gave good institutions, you won't even need to worry about who is president because you know you will get what you work for..

4. It's in everybody's prerogative to do whatever pleases them, I may chose to watch movies all through my life, it it doesn't stop construction of road, infact some people collect PVC for opening of account and means of identification, people can decide to vote or not, it's their problem, some are not interested in elections and you can't force them.
In USA, there were lots of old people that are voting for the first time during their last election...

5. We have leadership crisis, if the country must be good, all hands must be on deck, youths, old, men, women, must reform their minds, and do the right thing where ever they find themselves.
Most of the so called activists, and human rights advocates that got into government, what did they do eventually?

Our society is generally bad, and the youths are just part of it...

It's not about the show; that is just a symptom pointing to a greater malady. We are like the foolish man in the proverb who was chasing rats while his house was burning. The passion we exhibit for frivolities like big brother Nigeria is misplaced. Where's the sense in staying glued to a station that just shows young people shut in a house 24/7? Imagine if we employed the same platform to attempt to tackle some issues in our country. Is it not shameful that bbn is being held in south Africa because of the epileptic power supply in Nigeria? Why can't we, the youths do something like boycott the show & engage in protests to demand action from the government? Why can't we use our airtime to disturb our national assembly members to pass people-oriented legislation? Why don't we use social media platforms to engage in debates & enlightening conversations about how to improve our communities?

I am not a big fan of Big Brother but i find it tragic that one can be described as not making effort to make Nigeria better simply because you watch big brother. There is the rule and the exception. In my personal opinion, i know only very few youths who keep their eye off the ball. Almost every one i know has a job and at least one side hustle employing at least one other person. Its amazing that the writer could compare the age of awo and military dictators as a justification of youths of nowadays doing nothing. Awo and the dictators inherited a much better country and gave us youths a sh@thole country. My father fresh from secondary school was able to get a job as a clerk at UAC n the 70s. Same position today will probably require a master degree. We youths are barely surviving yet they want us to fix what the older generation messed up and are still messing up. If you can make ends meet and meet up your hustle while being law abiding, then continue to watch big brother as much as u want.

If you are a youth,you have three options:

DO nothing

relocate out of Nigeria or at least ensure you give birth to your children in the USA or Canada

Do the little you can. Touch your community and have impact. You dont have to be in government yet to touch lives. Hopefully your impact gets noticed then u can find yourself in a position of service and grow from there.And please get your PVC
