Top Seven African Universities With The Best Stadia - HigherEd by HigherEd: 11:07am On Feb 19, 2018
After seeing pictures of Edo University Stadium and Covenant University stadium I got inspired to compile a list of African Universities with the best stadia. Unfortunately, the vast majority of top notch African Universities don't have good sporting facilities. For this list I considered universities in South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Nigeria etc..

Good compilation there . . .

For those of the opinion that church owned private universities in Nigeria are profit oriented, things like the Covenant Uni stadium is another reason I don't take them serious because nobody after profit will invest in infrastructures that can't impact admission seekers turnout or even yeild a long term financial return.
Even the Edo state uni too has a nice stadium.

Not to talk of the Maintenance cost. The more private unis build infrastructures the more the Maintenance cost which can run into hundreds of millions at times.

I heard Oyedepo say in an interview that was posted here on NL that it cost 380 million to maintain one segment of the CU staff quarters. Now imagine how much it would take to maintain students residence, especially male hostels where things gets destroyed easily. And yet it would take 12 landmark university students school fees to pay one professor's annual salary. If Universities were so easy to run let the Critics ask govt how far.

Ozoro is not a University. But admittedly it should rank top in Nigeria if included.

...and Akanu Ibiam stadium, UNN and Delta State polytechnic stadium, Oghara were omitted?

Well, let me take it that that of UNN is uncompleted that's why it didn't make it but Delta State polytechnic? Nah! their stadium is way better than most of the stadia posted here. Even at Nsukka, the game village has several sports complexes that are of the same construction design or archetype with the ones posted here, for example, there is cricket pitch, hockey pitch and other football fields aside the main stadium with each having at least a single row grandstand like the ones posted.
And don't forget that UNN is multi campus with the campus at Enugu already having a completed stadium fitted with modern facilities like floodlights et al. Therefore, the school has two main stadia.

Try and go round Nigeria!
