By 2013, it was only in Lagos and Abuja that fuel could be bought at 97.

Elsewhere it was above 100.in some cases as high as 185.

Thing is, GEJ made the right decision in 2012 to raise fuel price to 140.Nigerians forced him t bring it down to an unsustainable 97.
Exactly d point I'm trying to make.... !!

It is obvious that you are an illiterate.the country gains more when crude price is high and viceversa.
And you the literate one, could not understand that the price to import refined crude would definitely go higher aswell...

When this government came in, they complained that they can't do much because of the dwindling prices of oil. T products. Today, oil prices are on the upward slope yet this government is still complaining. You know the truth? This government was never prepared for real governance. They were only obsessed with getting power without any plans of what to do with the power.

A stronger dollar, due to the Trumpian economic recovery makes it difficult for countries that import fuel to keep on importing at $70 per barrel.

So, international oil producers reduce prices, or go out of business
Meaning we have to start importing at a higher amount say $90 $100?

We were importing fuel when oil prices were at $100 and above, problem was we did it at the expense of our foreign reserve.

That is why GEJ and even some.elelments in this administration want deregulation.

Oil has had a good run up from $40s to $60s and you consider a retrace from $66 to $64+ as a crash?

Thank you. But I don`t get this or your previous statement.
What does that US dollar mean to our import price, increas or decrease?

still okay at least it hasn't gone to the 44dollar bench mark

BTW who would fidget about oil prices if we had agricultural boom?..

but we keep holding on to oil as if our lives depend on it

Oil crashes, = recession

Oil increase = higher fuel price.

How did we get here?

Brace up for fuel increase... the higher a barrel of crude oil, the higher the price of refined crude..

Kudos to Gej for holding:

Fuel at N87 despite selling crude at N100..
Dollar at N180 despite minimal restrictions on import..
After holding it at 87 naira, remind me again how much was lost to subsidy? how much was lost from the reserves to make you enjoy those? you still pretend you don't understand those policies landed us in recession once crude price crashed? grin grin grin
Some of you are just mere population figures!!

Deregulation when Dangote refinery comes on stream or when you are still importing?

But u were either at ojota or in spirit in 2012 protesting fuel hike?.. you did not know funds were lost to subsidy, you didnt know the reserves were depleting.. some you should have been prevented really.

Are you aware that most people that protested the 2012 subsidy removal did so because of the inefficiencies Jonathan refused to address because it benefitted his boys.
When last did you hear of offshore lome? When last did you hear we stored products for 7naira per liter? When last did you hear we paid deumorage for import cargoes in the form of subsidy, I can go on and on.
Point is sane people protested the inefficiencies that swelled the subsidy regimen, thats a fact!!
