This guys have observed our penchant and obsession with paper certificate and have decided to fleece us. An Msc/PhD course in US is about $12k - $18k. A one year course on graphics at NYFA is $38k. This should tell you where they place priority. Learn a skill! What baffles me is that after going to the UK, you can't even come back to start anything based on the innovations and ideas you have seen there. You are still coming back to look for a job like your counterparts here. The problem really is our mentality.

If you check Google, you will find the list of countries.
I deliberately did not list any countries because before you know it, they too may cut us off.

But I know one country in particular that is growing it's workforce and needs skilled and educated people to move ahead.

You all know it too ☺

Seek and you will find

I advised so many people after I returned from the UK because it was exactly that year I was doing my Masters programme they stopped the Post study Work Visa. So I was expecting to work for 3 years, recoup my money before coming back home but the PSW was stopped that year. I did my best to advise many aspiring students not too come to the UK for masters but many didn't listen.

I won't say I lost my money because I really utilized my 20hrs per week to work term time and 40hrs per week during holidays. I even got a Job at the Olympics games and earned a lot of money. I made close to half of my tuition fee. Came back home but didn't get a Job until after 2 years of coming back home.

Canada is the best for Students to study because after graduation you are given a Resident permit but to get their Visa is the most tasking job. USA on the other hand you have the opportunity to work since they won't be asking for your papers even after it has long expired.

The good thing about opinions is that they are personal and not necessarily indicative of fact. I left Naija a couple of years ago after working with many companies as a nurse. My goal of coming to the UK was to do a degree for my course for just 10 months after being told I’d do same for 4 years in Naija. To cut the story short, I’m fully employed in the NHS and earning a decent living after passing all their qualifying exams.

The notion that the UK does not want Nigerians is erroneous, they are only taking steps to ensure jobs are available to citizens first before outsiders are considered, unlike Nigeria where anyone with a light skin is offered jobs as expatriates without looking the way of locals.

They employ people mostly in the medical, engineering and construction fields. We know this.

They value their life and would gladly employ you to the the bits they do not like.

Why the fvck are Nigerians always fixated on migration?!! Always taking the easy way out. I always see Naija Twitter "intellectuals" advice youths to leave while they can. Foreigners see this too, and no one is ever going to respect you if you think mass migration is a solution.

Why not focus on a lasting solution: saving the soul of your country by calling for constitutional changes, building strong institutions etc?

I don't get how people can feel comfortable developing another country at the expense of yours. Sub Saharan Africans just don't get global politics. The leaders in Western countries know exactly what they're doing: selectively taking in the above average and positive outliers --- those with usefull skills, the smartest or the socioeconomically advantaged and their looted wealth --- for their own development. This is harmful to smaller nations since they are left with a bit more shitty people and less wealth on average. Also, the numbers are well controlled because they understand the effect of culture on institutions. There're many reasons why sh!tholes are what they are, but culture is a big part of it!

It's okay to study and live outside Africa, but at least consider making positive contributions to your country for the sake of your future generations and the dignity of your people.

All government universities in Germany are free.

Legally you have 18month to stay over after your studies...thats enough to get a job to stay here forever.

German government is immigrant friendly.we want skilled labour workforce.

Plenty student jobs from amazon(1300 euro monthly) to daimler Mercedes-Benz (2000euro).

Free education and semester ticket to make life comfortable.

I live and study here and visit uk.....very close to each other.

UK government is after your money...RUN

Please stop misleading people about Semesterticket being free. You get to pay for it, but it is subsidized. And besides, tuition is not free in all Universities. You have to be specific in which State you live, because you cannot generalize the conditions in your state to other states. Education is state and not federal government affair in Germany. The UK is at least ca 500 kilometres away from Germany at their closest point, and you have to cross either France, Belgium or the Netherlands, and of course the sea to get to the UK from the Germany. If you are not an EU/EEA citizen, you need a visa to enter the UK even though you have a Schengen visa.
Public transport Infrastructures are generally better in Germany than the UK. Germany is richer than the UK, and so Life tends to be better on average in Germany. However, you must not forget that in Germany, the chance to be exposed to racial hate is much higher than in the UK. East Germany is particularly worse. Even though the government of Angela Merkel is friendly to immigrants', this doesn't mean German people like the foreigners much. I lived in Germany for more than 19 years.

By the way, it's "Willkommen in Deutschland". I know that Deutsche Grammatik can cause a lot of "headaches;-).

I agree with the OP. The UK immigration policies are increasingly hostile to international students, but don't forget, this is a country that voted for Brexit. The vote for Brexit showed that the hostility expressed towards immigrants isn't just directed at non-EU immigrants, it's directed at EU immigrants as well. The average white British has an inglorious reputation of being cold and unwelcoming, but always with an artificial smile on their faces.

Unfortunately, the current conservative government has closed all the measures put together by the previous Labour government to encourage international student to stay after their studies. I came to the UK as a naive international student in 2009, and in 2011, I got my 2 year post-study visa. In 2015, I got my British passport on the back of an immigration pathway introduced by the previous Labour government. The pathway I used circa 2009-2015 has since been closed. The 2 year post-study visa which I enjoyed in 2011 after my studies was the first to be abolished.

Personally, I wouldn't encourage any international student to come to the UK for now. We are hoping that the current government will crash very soon, so that a new Labour government can come in to revamp the current immigration system and make it less hostile to students. If you read the Labour party immigration policy statement as set out by Diane Abbott, you will find that enshrined in there is a commitment to ensure that there is a streamlined immigration pathway for international students to naturalize easily.

That woman is a racist. Or is one a racist only when it is directed towards blacks? Hopefully, Labour doesn't win, or else UK will become the next version of Venezuela.

You raised a valid point but you counter it yourself.
Lets pick the point one by one.

1) I said semester ticket is free...you said its subsidized......let me use a state like Northrine westfalia as example.... a monthly ticket for non student that covers dortmund to dusseldorf alone is 220 euro.multiply it by 6 month =1320 euro

Compare it to a student who pay 280 euro as semester fees....the semester fee covers all your studies for a semester, takes you the whole of the state, this ticket also takes you to holland and belgium free for six month.....can you compare 1320 to 280?

2) You said not all school are free....what are expecting? You want private university to br free...in my ealier post I.mention only govt universities...the only exception is baden wurttemburg( 1 states out of 16).

3) You talk about rascism: please sir are you new on this platform? Cant you see ipob and yoruba e-warriors on nairaland? Rascim is everywhere bro...how you respond/react to it is what matters. Even UK policy of brexit, cancelling of post study visa is rascist and anti immigrant.

You lived here for 19 years says alot about the country.
If its bad am sure you would have port away.

Like I said, presently in the western world, Germany is the easiest, immigrant friendly and economically best choice for average Nigerian.

Danke.

Hi Bro.

I'd like to believe there are conditions to qualify and getting that free education?

I don't want to believe it's an opportunity that is available to any immigrant who can just come into the country.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
