My highlander 2004 with 3.3 engine and 10 pin gearbox is sluggish in movement when engaged in reserve gear only when engine has run for about 30 minutes or less. When the car is parked for a long time the reserve gear works perfectly. The drive gears are working perfectly, the gearbox filter was just replaced with a new one , Toyota transmission oil was used in the replacement of the gearbox oil, the engine was running when the oil was gauged and scan didn't see any fault. I also notice that the engine compartment is very hot when the bonnet was opened, despite the fact that the engine is not overheating, both fans are shucking in fresh air and temperature is normal. Please, what should l do? I am at Igando, Lagos.

No check engine light illuminated, engine seems to be extremely hot in most cases. Does the ride stall? Your case seems to me like a blocked exhaust system. A physical diagnosis would help

I believe your engine is the 3.3l 3MZ FE which uses the 22pin gear box. Check to be sure your gear box is not converted.

You need a competent mechanic to carry out this check.

Thanks, the engine is 3MZ and the gearbox was converted from 12 pin to 10 pin over a year now and it have been working perfectly. Please how do I get a competent mechanic within (Igando)my area to fix it.

Now you talking. The only way out is to have it installed back to what originally came with your ride.
