Students usually feel bad when they have a carryover in a course. Of course, this is expected because no student would like to revisit a course his colleagues have passed, so if you don't want a carry over in your academic record then kindly follow and read this article carefully.

So below are the top 5 things you can do to avoid getting carry over.

1. Don’t skip lectures
This is one of the many reasons students score low grades in exams and continuous assessment. A student who skips lectures will most likely miss an impromptu test and write out of context in exams.

So, make sure you attend all lectures. Remember some lecturers like you to give them answers to exam questions same way they taught you in the class. If you miss such lecturer’s class, you are likely going to carry his course over.

2. Stop excessive partying
Partying and going to clubs every time could have a negative effect on your academic performance even if you are very brilliant.You don’t need to hang out with friends or party all night to enjoy yourself as a student.

And if you really do care about not having a carryover, you’ll have to cut down on partying.

3. Avoid needless confrontation with your lecturer
Always try your best to avoid confrontation with your lecturers, try to find amicable ways of communicating your point of view without being rude or condescending.

You should not engage them in any argument that will make you look like you are trying to outshine them.

4. Start proper preparation
Poor preparation automatically translates to a poor performance in an examination. As a student, who does not want a carryover in his academic record, you need to study hard to get good grades in your exams and continuous assessment. let me share my experience on this;

In 2002 when i was in Poly Ibadan, there was this my coursemate that was very beautiful this lady senior me by age and to be sincere i never have it in mind to date her while she also take me for ordinary friend. Being a class governor of my department I used to protect the lady and help her on her academic while she's was also supplying my needs.There was one yeye lecturer who used to lecture us one of the core course that has interest in this girl. The man called me and instructed me to bring the lady to one hotel in Sango, she never spoke with the lady concerning it before o so I told him is not proper and not easy for me to just bring her without being informed. The exam was on the way u know?if you want to have carry over in this course dont bring the lady!!! said the lecturer, I told the man i cant and I didnt oblige with him till exam started.

When the result came out , do u know what ? lol and behold I scored 84% in the man's course !!! I was surprise because i never expect such high mark in the course, never knew is just a trick. I failed 2 other core courses in that semester even the one i was very good at...you know what? The lecturers connive to fail me but indirectly.

I got to know it was a plan work when I demanded for my script and I threatened to petition them if they refuse to show me my script. Thank God say i sabi person

in my year one first semester. I had already known to sort.

I did all op said in year one but GS course English gave me F, saying that they didn't see my exam but they saw the other course exam(NPC). I would you pray to God for help and do what others do, don't do churchy cus na them they pack the Fs

They should just study diligently,I mean studying with directions,most Freshers often fail courses not because they don't study hard but because they deviate from the essence of their courses...Study group in your early days also help
