This is an extremely near-sighted opinion. I hope you're joking. Humanity loses a part of its soul every time an animal is driven to extinction... because we still can't recreate any extinct animals, although we were able to extinguish them. Hyenas look nasty and are nuisance, but what if we find some use of them in the future? We owe this much to our children and grandchildren - to preserve these species of the nature which we still can.

Rangers did a great job and should be praised. The inactions of the police and military should not stop us from commending them. It is their job to protect the animals and doing their job while the military fail to protect humans does not mean that animals are more important than humans.

I don't suppose you have left your job or failed to do your job because of the inefficiency of the police and military, so, I don't suppose you expect the rangers to not protect animals because some other professionals are unable to safeguard human lives.
