Ace comedian and TV presenter, Owen Gee, just like some other celebrities has shared his personal experience and battle with depression.

Own Gee is is very popular for his funny comedy skits revealed that he almost took his own life in 1017 when he was faced with some challenges of life.

According to Owen Gee:

“I have had suicidal tendencies. Last year, I tried several things, but they did not work out. It was not because the ideas were bad, but the people I was working with just didn’t let them work out. Then anxiety and depression set in.

“It was then I realised that no drug could calm depression. There was hardly anyone I didn’t take. There was a time I was sleeping on drugs. There was a particular yellow tablet that, if I took it on Tuesday, on Wednesday I would only be prompted to barely wake up, eat and go back to sleep even before I finished eating. I would not wake up until Thursday.”

There you go. Typical African. Always recommending spiritual solution to a physical or medical problem. You are no different from that Jehovah's witness guy who insisted that his wife who was in difficult labor and needed blood transfusion will not get it because his faith doesn't allow it. The wife eventually died. What next? He should blame God for his wife's death, right?

Not saying God doesn't play a role in every sphere of our life if you allow him. But first things first. Seek medical attention. Even Owen Gee is ignorant for saying there is no medicine for the condition. Further check will reveal he eventually sought medical help.

Depression is a medical condition. It can be treated/managed. Even Christ said that it is only those who are sick that requires physician. Most of those who have committed suicide due to depression NEVER sought for medical attention. That tells a lot!
